Muzni's Musings: April 2010
http://muznismusings.blogspot.com/2010_04_01_archive.html
Saturday, 17 April 2010. My latest interest is with a painter called Carol Rhodes. For me Rhodes' paintings have that fantastic tension between surface and illusion, where a painting can be seen for its composition, brushmarks, colour and at the same time for its illusionary description. Her paintings are incredibly economical with colour and marks, so much so that one feels as tho the paintings actually exist in a no mans land between knowing and remembering. Muzni's Musings: June 2011

Monday, 20 June 2011. Following on from a drawing I did last week I ve decided to use it as a basis for some experimental work. I am trying to use colour as the force that defines the form through its interaction with its neighbour, creating a push and pull of energies. So far the painting is existing as such. Muzni's Musings: August 2010
http://muznismusings.blogspot.com/2010_08_01_archive.html
Sunday, 8 August 2010. Looking in through my eyes! Paradoxically I stood there staring at it and found that It felt as though I was looking inside my head,heart.consciousness. I had this tremble in my soul first when I was in my early 20s,long ago and at the same time I remember it all clearly. The painting then was by De Kooning. So back to it then, if you find yourself in Edinburgh for this August go to the Talbot Rice Gallery. There are some beautiful paintings by the late Craigie Aitchison. Spring an...
Muzni's Musings: March 2010
http://muznismusings.blogspot.com/2010_03_01_archive.html
Tuesday, 30 March 2010. Contrary to the apparent nature of this image, my model -Mandy was in fact free to move at any time (well every 45 mins. Or so). It represents a conscious. Effort to try and free up my compulsive control while applying the paint. The studies that i do such as these are an attempt to be aware of the marks I make which in turn feeds into images such as in the previous blog. Learning what kind of marks are out there, that are my own. Thursday, 25 March 2010. In search of the divine.
Muzni's Musings: October 2012

Wednesday, 24 October 2012. This is a painting by Kristin Baker, thought I'd share it with the world. I love her colour palette for this and her unusual marks. Almost like a landscape in another dimension. I like the thought of this image striking a chord with ones sensory memory, unlocking a layer. Saturday, 13 October 2012. Silence for some time. Muzni's Musings: colour dynamics
http://muznismusings.blogspot.com/2012/10/colour-dynamics.html
Saturday, 13 October 2012. Silence for some time. Im not much of a talker so this business is still some what foreign to me. So, the paintings have been flowing and I will be flooding the blogg with my findings. This is something I saw in a painting by Matisse called the 'red room'. In this painting Matisse held his drawings-the objects described, in a space glued together by the red ground. Unity was obtained. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Royal College of Art. Eyes like a shutter; Mind like a lens. Have you felt the sudden urge to chase something you fell instantly in love with but could not? In the midst of all that positivity, you might suddenly start to fear the change. What if it changes too much? What if it doesn’t change at all? What if I miss my shot? Would I have a second chance? Does it even matter anymore? Wait for the right moment. The wait is painful yes; but if its’ worth it, it would be a KISS song- a sweet pain. December 26, 2014. Being able to ...
