Professional Motherhood...: September 2014
http://professionalmotherhood.blogspot.com/2014_09_01_archive.html
September 19, 2014. This land is our land. Jake and I are now the proud owners of one full acre of dirt and rocks and trees. And some day we're going to put a house on it. Yesterday we bought a lot in a small subdivision (just 4 lots) that is only a few miles from where we currently live. We won't build for a few years, but we are excited to finally start the process of owning our "dream home.". This land is our land. Jake is standing about where our living room will be. Our view to the northwest.

Professional Motherhood...: Life as a child is pretty good...
http://professionalmotherhood.blogspot.com/2015/07/life-as-child-is-pretty-good.html
July 2, 2015. Life as a child is pretty good. I would never willingly choose to suffer through junior high again. And although high school was fun, I do not miss trying to be cool or hip or whatever it is kids call it these days. I would, however, consider being 2 or 5 again. Back when summers were longer, ignorance was bliss, and the world was still my oyster. My kids have it pretty good, and here are 10 reasons why some days, I would rather be them. Want to go back to that schedule? Can I get an Amen?

Professional Motherhood...: July 2014
http://professionalmotherhood.blogspot.com/2014_07_01_archive.html
July 28, 2014. Yesterday I had the privilege and honor of speaking at my grandpa's funeral. Grandpa was blessed with a long, happy life, and as his life drew to an end he was then blessed with the opportunity to say good-bye to his children before he peacefully passed away. In 2009 our family collected stories and special memories that we had of grandpa, and then read them aloud to him on his 90. Birthday. As we reminisced about the past, patterns began to emerge in our recollections of him. And remember...

Professional Motherhood...: January 2015
http://professionalmotherhood.blogspot.com/2015_01_01_archive.html
January 26, 2015. Philippians 4:13 was not written for moms. In Philippians 4:13 I am reminded that, "I can do all things through Him who strengthens me.". I feel like the apostle Paul did not write this with modern day mothers in mind. I suspect he would have provided additional clarification had he known that some of us (we know who we are) would some day use this verse to try to prove to ourselves that we can do it all, be it all, and still be home in time for dinner. At what point can we acknowledge ...

Professional Motherhood...: May 2015
http://professionalmotherhood.blogspot.com/2015_05_01_archive.html
May 22, 2015. So, you ask, what have you all been up to this spring? We colored Easter eggs. Because. That's what people do at Easter. We didn't trust Ryan to not break eggs. So he only got to play with those little worthless. Cardboard holder things that never get used. I suppose I should have been banished. To the worthless cardboard things too. I broke at least six eggs. Rachel pushed Ryan in his car. They both giggled the entire time. Ryan had tons of fun. Until Rachel pushed him into a tree. View my...

Professional Motherhood...: August 2014
http://professionalmotherhood.blogspot.com/2014_08_01_archive.html
August 25, 2014. Rachel starts pre-school today. She was super excited, and was dressed and ready to go in record time this morning. I really wanted to watch her get on the bus, but we decided that it would be best if I wasn't there. So, instead, I checked the clock every minute, wondering where she was and what she was doing. I hugged her good-bye, and when she saw tears in my eyes she said, "Don't worry mommy, I'll be back soon, and then I'll tell you all about my day.". My classes start tomorrow.

June 30, 2015. So, whadda ya think. I freshened the place up a bit. What do you think of it? Because this isn't an anarchy, my redesign process had rules. I tried really hard to stick to these:. 1 The color scheme can't change. Because I'm too tired to change everything. 2 It needs to look like. me. 3 The coffee cup must still be there. Somewhere. Anywhere. 4 At least some of it should look professional.without looking all professional. 5 Fun It should be fun. But not too fun. A nice fun balance. Celebra...

Professional Motherhood...: My (un)vacation day...
http://professionalmotherhood.blogspot.com/2012/06/my-unvacation-day.html
June 21, 2012. Yesterday I used a day of vacation and stayed home from work. But, let me just clarify one thing.I was most certainly not on vacation. My day started with a trip to the grocery store. Here's a side note, the grocery store is a strange place to be on a Wednesday morning- nothing like the store I've come to expect on weekends. Shelves were full, workers were actually, gasp. Smiling, and not a line could be found anywhere. Odd. Almost eerie. Okay, I'll be honest. Here's a picture of some of t...

Professional Motherhood...: October 2014
http://professionalmotherhood.blogspot.com/2014_10_01_archive.html
October 27, 2014. Time for an update on Ryan. Okay, so some of you have been seeing little snippets of comments I've made on facebook about Ryan and some of the things we're going through with him right now. Maybe it's time I finally fill you all in a bit more. Don't worry, his health is fine but we're just gearing up for yet another bump in his road. A bit of background and reminders:. 1 Ryan was born about 6 weeks early and spent two weeks in the NICU. Let's stop here for a second so I can address the ...
