Two sisters. Nine Children. You have to laugh. 8230;and we laughed and laughed. Dear Stacy, and Mom, and every other Mom I talked to today,. Thank you. Thank you a thousand times over. At that fateful minute I realized two things, 1) I never finished knitting Peter’s Christmas sweater and 2) my daughter didn’t own a beautiful, sparkly, preschool-program-worthy Christmas dress. You are dear women. Models of motherhood. Sisters in Christ. So with you, I share my joy. And I promise, there are sparkles on th...

https://puttingroots.wordpress.com/2011/04/08/weekly-update-3
Planting ourselves in the barely-midwest…. But Who is Planting? April 8, 2011 in Weekly Update. I’m not very good at this, am I? Alexis and I went dress shopping. It went well, but of course, we still don’t have a dress for prom. She did get two great dresses that will be great dressed up for Easter and weddings, and dressed down for church and maybe even hanging with friends. Michael has gotten taller and skinnier, with me actually seeing his ribs when he took a bath last night. Who is this child? Notif...

https://puttingroots.wordpress.com/2011/06/18/the-secret-haircut
Planting ourselves in the barely-midwest…. But Who is Planting? June 18, 2011 in Autism. To summarize: cutting Michael’s hair sucks. And it’s sad. Because his hair is gorgeous. Absolutely gorgeous. It’s thick and straight and while it’s “just brown” it has all sorts of colors in there and its shiny and it just bounces and… well, it’s gorgeous. See, here’s my baby with a lot of hair:. See that beautiful boy? See how thick it is? They’re called scissors. That doesn’t do me any good. The...Finally I decided...

Disease or Disorder? | Putting Down Roots
https://puttingroots.wordpress.com/2011/04/14/disease-or-disorder
Planting ourselves in the barely-midwest…. But Who is Planting? April 14, 2011 in Autism. Our son Michael is “autistic”. Or is it that he “has autism”? I can never remember which one is politically correct to say these days. While I appreciate the work of organizations like Autism Speaks. Or The Autism Society. It saddens me when we talk about a “cure” for autism. What caused Michael’s autism? While part of me would love to have a “normal” kid, honestly, what’s “normal”? So Michael has some developmental...
