Urban Homesteading in the Pacific Northwest. This week in pictures. Love this time of year-though today starts a heat wave. Not so in love with this new world order…I expect to spend the next two days working in the cool of the early morning as long as I can, and then hiding from the sun except for moving irrigation. Be safe, stay hydrated! Elk fence on main garden! Calendula with bad guy. Terraces for the orchard. This entry was posted in farming. And tagged animal husbandry. June 26, 2015. You are comm...

Urban Homesteading in the Pacific Northwest. So far, so good…. Heading into week 4 for the CSA, week 2 for the Farmers Market (on the fence there-I’ll know by tomorrow if I have enough veg for both). The weather has been all over the place-into the 90’s this week which is unusual for W. Oregon in early June-normal cool and rainy last week (Rose Festival-of course! Here are some shots of a recent CSA share….just to get you going😉. Square Peg Farm strawberries. This entry was posted in farming. Big Table ...

Urban Homesteading in the Pacific Northwest. Wannabe farmer, urban homesteader, small town girl itchin to move out of the city. Early season projects…. We skinned that cat, and now snug on the inside is a seed starting extravaganza-complete with heat mats, tables, a propagation sweatbox, a seeding table, and early garden beds out of the weather. Spring break for farmers-it was 80 degrees in here the other day…. It is all fun and games until the field voles find you…. This entry was posted in farming.
Earth work | Spud Lust
https://spudlust.wordpress.com/2015/05/06/earth-work
Urban Homesteading in the Pacific Northwest. Terraces are in and look amazing! Terraces tilled by husband with borrowed tractor…. Beds built by hand and amended with compost….a bcs with a rotary hoe would make this go much faster. Beds limed, amended with micronutrients and shaped. First beds planted and irrigation lines in place-wait, what is that in the distance? Hmmm, think I know what the next big project is…. And a new wildflower discovery-I think this is an orchid called Candystick. May 6, 2015.

A view from the cave. Wednesday, December 7, 2011. Not sure what was going on here? The photo looks like it's been put together but it's just a straight shot. I really like it. Random photos from the Hipstamatic. It's just so great. You can take a photo of your big toe and it will look so great (I'll do that tomorrow.). Fan-bloomin-tastic to be on holiday, though I simply must attempt to find some gainful casual employment. Later. Listening to - Laura Marling, the Felice Brothers. Places I love to visit.

A view from the cave. Friday, January 28, 2011. I remember the blissful awareness that I was still up way past my usual bed time. Summer seemed endless and we were sun kissed, bright eyed and a bit feral. I enrolled in music school yesterday and met some of my class mates - 17 years olds with strong musical opinion/identity and so happy to share stories. One girl (who plays bass) Said "I know it sounds dumb but I just discovered Stevie Wonder and I've been listening to him non-stop for the last month!

A view from the cave. Thursday, June 24, 2010. What the sky gave us. A whole lot of beauty on the way up the Black Spur to Alexandra to fetch the folks. It's purdy out there. Listening to mountain music - Songcatcher 2 - Appalachian style. Friday, June 11, 2010. Rain on the windscreen whilst awaiting my parents at the airport. My favourite people converging one by one over endless tea, fruit cake and shortbread. Beau adoring his Grandpa like he's always been here. Illusion fled from all my ecstasy.

We stayed with our friends in their (most glamorous) shed (I've ever seen anyway! And rekindled our love of morning coffee. When we came home my gorgeous man turned 48 and there was much baking and feasting with friends.

SNARK COMES IN 5'7" PACKAGES. Thursday, June 23, 2011. Talk Thursday - Devastated. When Krista sent out this topic, it finally spurred me to do something I hadn't for months (obviously) - blog. A lot in the last seven months. Frankly, most of it hasn't been good. Bear with me a moment, for those of you who don't know the whole story. There is a moral to it. Another Friday went by with no bad news. Whew. Big Bit was more stoic at this funeral, but for the second time in a month he got to see his boyhood p...

Did You Know That Different Types Of Potatoes Cook Differently? Different potatoes DO cook differently. Most people think a spud is a spud; one is no different from the other. However, this isn’t true; all varieties of potato are not the same. Using the correct type for the dish you’re making is important for excellent results. These spuds hold their shape very well when cooked. That makes them perfect to be in soups, salads, boiling or poaching whole, as well as shredded for hash browns. A soup ...Mealy...

For over 30 years Spudly’s Super Spuds has been offering the New Orleans area a meal in a baked potato. Spudly's Opinion On......
I own my own views which may be comical or serious dependent on which face I choose to adopt. Tuesday, 20 September 2011. Insomniacs Anonymous Sleep Update Night 12. A quick catch up on the Melatonin personal trial. I'm sleeping in an odd fashion? I'm starting to snoooooze now. Zzzzzzzzzzz. I followed those who held views both opposing and supporting; sometimes the sniping was difficult to tolerate. I ploughed through still looking for that evidence while seeing the two sides become more ever distant...
My opinion on everything
My opinion on everything. Thursday, February 05, 2009. The results are in. I have so much to complain about. The Rudd governments assistance package *cough* WORST IDEA EVER *cough* or an accident on the Causeway this morning. But really lets just get on to the results for Game Time. Obviously I believe my opinion is the most important, that one was a bit of a gimme! And anybody who now wants to argue the point with me about saving the environment, lets not forget that I am 6'9" and 121kg. Lets play the ol...
