First Grade and Second Grades. We are learning about Native American music, patriotic songs, solfege, and rhythmic instruments. We are preparing for the winter concert on December 14 at 7:00 pm. We will review how to read rhythms and the treble clef. We will use the hand bells to practice the treble clef. We will begin the flutophones soon. Students in first and second grade need to report to their classrooms at 6:45 pm before the concert begins. After the concert is over, the first and second grade students will be dismissed from their classrooms. The students in the band need to report to the music room by 6:30 pm The middle school chorus in grades six through eight should also arrive at 6:45 pm. Band and Chorus Choice Classes. The students in grades 6 through 8 have been offered choice classes for each marking period. They can choose to be in band for marking periods 1 and 3. We will offer chorus marking periods 2 and 4. Choice classes are graded. Band and chorus students will need to be prepared, participate at all times, and occasionally will need to demostrate that they can perform the music.
