Confessions of a Theatre Snob: October 2006

Confessions of a Theatre Snob. Monday, October 30, 2006. Farewell to The Tank. If I knew how to locate pictures in the middle of the text, then that's where these would be, as it sort of spoils the narrative (! To put them first, but, hey, I don't, so they're 'up front', so to speak. Anyway, I got a new car on Friday, well, new to me, at least, so it was time to say goodbye to my little fiesta, known as 'The Tank', and I couldn't let it go without reflecting on some of its travels. Another epic road trip...

Confessions of a Theatre Snob. Monday, August 28, 2006. A Beginner's Guide to the Fringe. Plan ahead, read the reviews there are plenty out there, but you need to sift through them, to sort out the wheat from the chaff. Book some shows, particularly if there’s something you really want to see. It will save you a lot of queuing. But leave time for the impromptu. Buy tickets on the day at the venue, as the queues are shorter, and they will try and get you in even when the Fringe Box Office has sold out.

Confessions of a Theatre Snob: April 2006
http://confessionsofatheatresnob.blogspot.com/2006_04_01_archive.html
Confessions of a Theatre Snob. Friday, April 28, 2006. I've just caught up with last weeks episode of Dr Who! It's a good job they show it 3 times, as with my life, I'd never get to see it. (I do have a video, I just can't remember how to find the video channel on the tv! I loved the way all the strands in the story were brought together at the the end and the suggestion the Queen Victoria had been bitten and that, therefore, lycanthropy has been passed down in the royal family! Confessions of a Theatre Snob: June 2006

Confessions of a Theatre Snob. Saturday, June 24, 2006. Costume - historical to hysterical. Today they had a costume sale at the Theatre Royal. I can’t resist these, even though I know nothing much will fit me. It’s the chance to pick up a piece of theatre memorabilia, and much if it has special memories for me, as I worked in costume hire for nearly 3 years, when I was at Uni. I’m very taken with David’s legs, but I don’t know what I’d do with them’. You could frame them’. Posted by Val @ 10:00 PM.

Confessions of a Theatre Snob: July 2006

Confessions of a Theatre Snob. Monday, July 31, 2006. So, just how do you buckle a swash? I went to see the second Pirates of the Caribbean. With a few ‘set piece’ action sequences which seemed to add little to the story line, and seemed to be purely there for comedy value and to gloss over the plot holes. I’d like to have seen the triangle of Jack/Elizabeth/Will developed further and I didn’t cry for Jack, as he’s clearly going to be back in the next film. Posted by Val @ 8:53 PM. Confessions of a Theatre Snob: September 2006
http://confessionsofatheatresnob.blogspot.com/2006_09_01_archive.html
Confessions of a Theatre Snob. Saturday, September 30, 2006. Has finally had it’s opening night at the Apollo Victoria. This is the theatre where we saw. And apparently they’ve turned it into the Emerald City. Its a beautiful art deco ex-cinema, which I felt wasn’t a total success as a theatre, (some poor sightlines and it felt huge), but perhaps it needs the big spectacle, and from all accounts, Wicked is certainly that. Posted by Val @ 6:00 PM. Have a nice life. I'd say they don't really know me, but I...

Confessions of a Theatre Snob: May 2006

Confessions of a Theatre Snob. Tuesday, May 30, 2006. Here I go again. It's the start of another hectic week - Tuesday already - and I haven't caught up with myself from last week yet. There was so much about London I never got round to mentioning, not least Whistle Down the Wind at the Palace Theatre, the fantasic, and frankly eye boggling club we went to, and the fabulous shops of Seven Dials. Well, yes, this is me, after all! Posted by Val @ 10:10 PM. Sunday, May 28, 2006. I do have ‘issues’ with some...

Confessions of a Theatre Snob: November 2006

Confessions of a Theatre Snob. Friday, November 24, 2006. Because, because, because, because, because. We're off to see the Wizard, the Wonderful Wizard of Oz'. I'm in a nice little sandwich shop, perusing the range of homemade soups and thinking which one I fancy for lunch, when my bag starts singing the above. I look around sheepishly - the guy behind the counter asks 'would you like any help choosing a soup, madame? Only don't lean against something when it's in your shopping bag! What is this feeling?
