Art, textiles, printmaking, mixed media art, text. A very good time. August 11, 2015. August 11, 2015. Well there we are, the Festival of Quilts all over for another year. I had a wonderful time on my stand, meeting and chatting to lots of people, many of whom I only see at shows, but it’s always a pleasure to see them, and all very life affirming stuff. And below is my little stand. I’m having next year off, but will be working in the Art Textiles: Made in Britain gallery. Next week, on the 19th and 20t...

Art, textiles, printmaking, mixed media art, text. How ideas and work develop…. June 8, 2015. February 17, 2016. 8230;is very interesting isn’t it? The colour need seems to have been satisfied with the Khadi paper circles with birds previously shown; they’re almost finished now. The manuscripts are still thoughts in progress, but an innocent activity such as sorting fabrics to put into fabric packs for sale at shows has led me to make some new pieces, without planning to. There is a fantastic show on at ...

STUDIOAPATCHSHE.co.uk FABRIC for STITCHERS A ramble through a life with fabric. Wednesday, 21 January 2015. At the Festival of Quilts. I watched an Apliquick demo and told myself no way. I'll continue using tweezers and a cocktail stick. Then the dreaded tooth trouble arrived. You know how it goes. A few clicks and here they are. Five quid off from the fat quarters shop. I've yet to use them. Shall try after class and give an evaluation. Ahhh time for class. Wednesday, January 21, 2015. Life in the shires.

Stitchclothcolour: Paper Cloth Workshop
http://stitchclothcolour.blogspot.com/2015/08/paper-cloth-workshop.html
A blog about making art and other things using cloth, paper, paint, colour, stitch, and all sorts of exciting techniques, some of which I'm sure I still have to discover! I hope that the joy all this gives me is visible in what you can see here. Saturday, 8 August 2015. Thursday was spent getting all sticky and messy with some muslin, tissue paper, other bits and pieces, and bucketfuls of PVA! Above and below works in progress, and considering that we all used the same materials, it's amazing to see the ...

Charlton Stitcher: January 2015

Working with mixed media stitched textiles gives me great pleasure. As well as the joy in the art of making and exploring, there are the friendships formed as work grows. Wednesday, 28 January 2015. Back and front stitched sketch. I have been experimenting with stitch since Christmas. Several ideas are running around in my head, all seeming still to involve black and white at the moment, with just occasional splashes of colour from time to time. Sunday, 25 January 2015. January, with all its cold greynes...

Working with mixed media stitched textiles gives me great pleasure. As well as the joy in the art of making and exploring, there are the friendships formed as work grows. Monday, 27 July 2015. Playing with pixels, windows and bridges. I'm going to eastern Scotland and the Orkney Islands soon and I'm going to take print outs of some images that I've generated as a result of the Pixeladies. I recently found myself buying a small selection of threads from Patricia Wood of Mulberry Silks. I'm still trying to...

Working with mixed media stitched textiles gives me great pleasure. As well as the joy in the art of making and exploring, there are the friendships formed as work grows. Sunday, 28 December 2014. Cotswolds and New Year greetings. Before Christmas, I was so busy preparing for the arrival of family visitors that my intended post didn't appear. We had a wonderful time - busy, noisy and great fun and the grandchildren were a delight as always. Friday, 19 December 2014. Flavour of the year. It has seemed thi...

The digital bakery-intage startze. Sunday, 23 February 2014. My finished wall hanging. Sunday, 9 February 2014. This wall hanging is a work in progress, sorry the photo isn't great, winter light and all that. I need to edge it, back it and attach it to some doweling to hang it. I'll post some better photos when it's finished. Here is one I made for a friend's daughter, Georgia. Inspired by an Angie Hughes workshop. They are so much fun to make! And my favourite, in their winter coats.

Sunday, 5 July 2015. A stroll around our exhibition. A big thank you to all of you who visited our exhibition in Bromsgrove two weeks ago. We had a lovely weekend sharing work with family and friends. If you didn't manage to get there here are a few photos with apologies to those whose work I haven't included! The three photos above show a selection of work from my monthly textiles group. As usual there is a great variety of work including dyed and printed cloth and sketchbooks full of ideas. Data Mapping – week 8. November 4, 2012. Having to sort through words and thoughts and deciding which relate to what, and putting them in categories was useful, but I think a next step in the affinity diagram we completed would be to. Relate the ideas together, relating each cluster to the others, and ask questions such as “why is this important? 8221;, and maybe looking at a sort of hierarchy of each cluster. Flow Diagrams (of a Jogger in a Park). IDEO Methods – week 8. October 29, 2012. Art and design,...
