1969 Jaguar Restoration - Convertible Top
http://www.janwhite.net/jaguar/top.htm
The original top was an embossed vinyl that was in dire need of replacement. Rather than replace it with original equipment, we decided to go with a more modern dense nylon top called Stayfast. Unlike the vinyl, which can become brittle and stiff after prolonged exposure to ultraviolet light, the Stayfast remains soft and flexible and resistant to sunlight. 1965 Corvette Restoration - Before
http://www.janwhite.net/corvette/before.htm
Other than severe frame rust and some missing original parts, the car was in pretty good shape. The interior had been replaced a few years before and the black paint, although poorly done, was in presentable condition. The car was was originally Ermine White with a combination black/white interior (according to the trim tag). It was shod with oversized Firestone radials mounted on reproduction knock-off wheels. 1965 Corvette Restoration - Remove Body
http://www.janwhite.net/corvette/remove_body.htm
Remove Body / Rebuild Engine. Due to the poor condition of the frame, we decided to replace it rather than perform any sectioning of the rusted areas. A frame in like-new condition was located in California and trucked to Michigan. After the body was removed from the frame, all engine, suspension and other components were removed and the old frame was donated to someone restoring a 1969 roadster whose frame was in far worse condition than this one! The car was purchased in January 2000 in the dead of winter. It was completely covered in snow and while driving by the telltale hump in the snow to and from work every day, we stopped one day and discovered it was for sale but not advertised. It was originally an Arizona car and had only spent one winter on Michigan's salty roads, so the body and pan were in very good condition.
