Monday, February 23, 2009. I heard birds chirping today! Highlights of semester #2 so far [in no particular order]:. 1 soaking up the few warm days we've had. 2 500th weekend at West Point with Derek. 3 making photographs with a medium format camera. 4 new friendships.a gift from God. 5 walking through the greenhouse at ISU. 6 discovering new my favorite Starbucks drink.a hazelnut mocha [one pump each, nonfat, extra hot, with whip]. 7 seeing the Lord's blessings amidst my frantically busy life.

Sunday, August 16, 2009. Alright, so when I started this blog last year, I thought it would be easy to keep this thing updated. as you can see, that has not been the case. I figured it might be a good time to update. Yesterday marked three months of being engaged to Derek! I can't believe it's been that long already. his surprise visit home for the proposal was may 15. we are on the countdown to june 4, 2010 .wedding day! Have a great week! Welcome back kara jo! Since I don't have a working alarm, I borrowed one to get up earlier in the morning. I didn't end up needing it, though, because I always wake up before my alarm, no matter what time it's set for. I think I made more friends in Switzerland this weekend than I did in all the 2.5 months before in Normandie. When I get home - this evening! S'mores à la francaise. Yes - 2 biscuits (they taste like butter cookies), with a thin layer of nutella, on each, with a slightly-zapped marshmallow squished between. Frozen. GENIUS. Go try it. Went to the boulangerie, since i can't do that in naperville. At 10, mathilde picked up julie and estelle and i. we went to deauville. We walked around the city a bit. saw this hotel where famous people stay. If you've heard of deauville before, it's probably because of these famous people. there's an american film festival.

Hannah en normandie: an account of hannah's summer as a nanny in france. Today we went to Le Havre, one of Normandy's big cities, since I hadn't seen it yet. It's set to become Europe's largest port within the next few years! This summer has been relaxing, which has been great considering how stressful and all-together nasty the last 2 terms of school were, but it has also been boring (and challenging.) enough to make me completely ready to start a new year of school!
