Wednesday, February 20, 2013. Should I stay or should I go? As a supply chain manager, your day starts early. Once in the office, the calls, e-mails, and meetings come fast and furious. By the time the day is over, it is late and you may be tired. But good work was accomplished. Progress was made. Tomorrow, you will do it again and do it just as well, if not better. The decision to move. Go if it will help you grow. Are you still growing professionally? Are you still learning? Are you still challenged?

Monday, January 10, 2011. Let's Walk theTalk and visibly live our values. I was listening to an interview on a national news station the other day. The reporter was interviewing a well known academic and expert in political communication strategies. This individual has developed a specific reputation for creating powerful “sound bites”- -those short and easily remembered lines that are intended to be repeated often in the media. No doubt, when you are leading an organization, everyone needs you and your time is under constant pressure. Look closely at every appointment that found its way onto your calendar for the next four weeks. What could be more important?

Thursday, May 31, 2012. Lunch for your Mind. I wrote a Career Ladder article “Why You Should Never Graduate” that was published in January about how learning is a lifelong pursuit. Soon afterward I read an article on Brian Grazer in the Wall Street Journal Magazine. The point is less about getting the information in person from the best and brightest, but more about getting the learning at all. I clipped an article from a 2010 Fortune magazine about Bill Gates’ favorite teacher. Links to this post.

Thursday, November 8, 2012. As an athlete, I track my workouts in a binder. I know what I have done: the miles, the times, the weights, the repetitions. I can see my progress on the page and in my body. Data does not lie. It inspires me to get another repetition; to lift a couple more pounds; or to shave off a few seconds from my time. I like the concept of. Or continuous improvement. Once you reach a certain level of success in your career, there are not a lot of "Ah Ha! Off Improvements take place on t...

Monday, March 26, 2012. Do you ever get the feeling that your sense of what is right is warring with your ego? We know the right thing to do, but it is hard. Often, we think of leadership in very black and white terms: the best leaders are always strong, always right, always in the lead.
