On a memo/receipt spike with a safety cover? Both cheaper alternatives although less ‘perfect’ than the dispenser I finally settled on. Although I’m not ready to pack away my pencil and eraser yet, and words will always be necessary for specific instructions, I’m looking forward to introducing a little brightness to our pages once again. And nothing says “this is the same chord with the same fingers” better than two strips of purple highlighter tape🙂. Http:/ www.teaching.com.au/product? You are commenti...

A ‘ducks’ and yellow and orange theme in the music room this week for ‘at the piano’ and ‘on the floor’ activities. Locating and counting the groups of two and three black keys…. Finding D’s with letter tiles and mini ducks…. Mother duck and her three baby ‘pitch’ ducks – one likes high sounds, one likes low sounds and the other likes middle sounds. Students position the baby ducks in their favourite places on the piano and play and listen to the sounds. On their own fingers eg RH 1, LH 2 etc. Fill in yo...

Tonight I persevered for many hours with starting to add links to my blogroll. It was really worrying me that I wasn’t giving enough credit to the other teachers who willingly present so much information and who inspire me daily. I am in awe of their ability to make and share resources! For now I will have to be content with sharing words, pictures and ideas. This entry was posted in Greetings. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. What I enjoy most about group classes is watching and listening to private piano students interact socially. It’s also beneficial to place pupils in a situation where they can talk about the theoretical music knowledge they would generally write down. I like to have some kind of an icebreaker as students arrive, such as this post-it note idea. Students were asked to write down a word (or two or three? Bunny and egg decorations for inspiration, the colour scheme this year – green and lilac! For the great ...

Piano Game Resource List. Spicing Up Piano Lessons. Tuesday, December 13, 2011. Piano Lab 101: Scheduling, Structure, Assignments and Progress. There are several different elements to consider when setting up a piano lab. When I incorporated piano lab into my private lessons, I had just relocated to a new area so I advertised the piano lab as one of the benefits of regular lessons. And included lab fees with tuition. Initially I staggered lesson times. To gauge how well the student grasped the concept in...

Piano Game Resource List. Spicing Up Piano Lessons. Friday, September 12, 2014. A Quest for Virtues - Theme for the New Piano Year. Earlier this week when I attended a classroom event in my child's school, I was impressed with their classroom focus on 5 character traits. I started by telling a silly story about a caterpillar doing his workout activities at the gym to introduce her to flexible wrist motions necessary for piano playing. We listened to Mozart's Rondo Alla Turca and simultaneously discovered some elements of the form of the music as each section repeats. Caterpillar at the Gym. Caterpillar crawl, caterpillar crawl. Susan Kaye Behm's Advocacy against abuse
Susan Kaye Behm's Advocacy against abuse. Wednesday, September 3, 2008. Ever wonder what forgiveness really means? I know that it's one of the keys to healing from the abuse that we've suffered. I believe that I've forgiven my abusers, yet, I also know there's a great deal of anger, hurt, shame, feelings of betrayal, etc. still there. So, I don't know if I've truly let it go and forgiven them completely. Any comments you would have on it would be greatly appreciated. Wednesday, July 16, 2008. Make yourse...
