He was quickly chosen to be among a select group of Israelite nobility who were given special training to serve in the King’s court. Daniel distinguishes himself right away by publicly standing for God and later by being an interpreter of dreams and prophecies. Messianic prophecies in Daniel. Son of Man in power.

By 400 B.C. the Nabatean Arabs had defeated Edom and occupied their territory, which came to be called Idumea. The Herods of the New Testament were the last of the Edomite remnant. Bible lessons and articles from an armchair theologian. Saturday, May 27, 2006. Bible 101: Lesson 23. The book is historically thought to have been written by Jeremiah. The author was certainly an eyewitness to the destruction of the city at the hands of the Babylonians. He alternates between descriptions of the destruction, repentance over the sins that brought judgment down, appeals for God’s help, and hope for the future because of God’s great mercy. Some of those prophecies were remarkably fulfilled by Jesus at his first coming, and some remain to be fulfilled at his second coming.
