India's Currency Move: Short-Term Pain Versus Long-Term Gain. By Kannan Venkataramani, Senior Portfolio Manager Asian Equity at NN Investment Partners. As bold economic actions go, few can rival the Indian government’s decision to take the country’s 500- and 1,000-rupee notes out of circulation. Prime Minister Narendra Modi took the unusual step of personally announcing the move in a televised address to the nation, underscoring its enormity. Secondly, it will accelerate financial inclusion for the peopl...

Söderhavet 2009: Massive Swedeness in San Diego
http://erikisoderhavet.blogspot.com/2009/12/massive-swedeness-in-san-diego.html
Wednesday, December 16, 2009. Massive Swedeness in San Diego. My last stop in the USA was in San Diego where I visited Victor, a sailor I first met on the East Indiaman Götheborg four years ago. San Diego was all about parties, walking along beautiful semi-deserted beaches and Swedish Christmas traditions. Warming up for the party. Tommy is drinking an American substitute for beer. Air craft carrier. Big. Christmas luncheon at the Swedish Chamber of Commerce in San Diego. In Japan this would be a donburi.

Saturday, February 28, 2009. Sunday, February 22, 2009. Surfing på Ninety Mile Beach. Vid högvatten tar det en minut ti...

Monday, April 20, 2009. I am measuring the rigging. We have drawings and rigging plans, but they are not very accurate. Seems that a lot about this ship is not very accurate. Yes, it is a ratboard. Yes it is on the dock, right next to the ship. No, it is not supposed to be there, it should be in the shrouds 12 meters above deck. And here is our workshop, where a lot of the magic is going to take place. A big tarp roof, surrounded on three sides by shipping containers. Wednesday, April 15, 2009. View from...

Tuesday, October 27, 2009. Interesting stuff from Japanese construction sites. Throughout the centuries, and still today, there has been a lot of interesting stuff going on at Japanese construction sites. Here is a bunch of pictures reflecting that. Eclectic madness. Low-key perfection and tacky exaggerations. A thing of great beauty. And I used to hate glass facades. (Kyoto Station again, mirroring itself and the surrounding city.). The Osanbashi ferry terminal in Yokohama. I didn't get any pictures...
