Room 125: Move-in Tomorrow!
http://misssederberg.blogspot.com/2015/08/move-in-tomorrow.html
11 August, 2015. I'm in a sort of funk tonight. You know the feeling that you had when you were little the day before Christmas or standing in line, waiting for your dad to buy tickets to get into Disneyland? That super excited, thrilled feeling? I have had the same type of anticipatory feelings today. They started a couple weeks ago and started growing until the climax arrived tonight. I get to move into my brand new classroom tomorrow. This year will be an amazing one. Stay tuned. If I am not compl...

Room 125: August 2015

29 August, 2015. In my school district, it is traditional to have a back to school night the day before school starts. I love it. I get to meet my kids and make sure I have all their names down. I get an idea of what their parents are like. I have volunteers sign up to be room parents and help out at class parties. We will be holding an open house on Tuesday and I thought it would be fun for the kids to make invitations for their families. Here's what I came up with:. 18 August, 2015. I was stalling unti...

18 August, 2014. Back To School Night! Well, it's arrived. Back to school night. One of my favorite nights of the year. The kids are excited or nervous or couldn't care less. They are adorable and I have a non-stop smile for two hours plastered on my face. I was just glad my classroom was ready. I started to panic around noon. I took on a few too many projects this summer, especially with the fact that I was gone for one month. I cannot wait until tomorrow. Those adorable children are my. Suitcases for t...

27 April, 2013. The 1st Degree (not of glory) Part 1. Thank you grandpa for the title.). Even though I have not taken a class at BYU for a year, I finally received the cover that I get to stick a piece of paper in. Wahoo! On Thursday when I told my kiddos I was taking a half day, they were distraught. ("Why are you going to be gone? Is it your graduation? Are you going to teach us the rest of the year? Are you going somewhere? I was lugging my bag and laptop towards the entrance of the school. Like I am ...

Room 125: How to set up a classroom in six days: Day 4
http://misssederberg.blogspot.com/2015/08/how-to-set-up-classroom-in-six-days-day_16.html
16 August, 2015. How to set up a classroom in six days: Day 4. I thought I would only spend an hour or two in my classroom for day 4. Little did I know how wrong I was. It was crazy. For $30, I bought 6 12x12" pads of paper, 4 6x6" pads of paper, and 7 12x12 pads of paper that was one paper repeated in a case. It was glorious! As they worked, Wolf and I taped their numbers on the cubby holes. Here I am sneaking a picture of the bulletin board going up. As we waited for them to finish, we also put their m...

31 July, 2015. More and More Banners. Last week I had the opportunity to help give the school board a tour of my school. They meandered around, making comments and asking questions. A photographer snapped pictures occasionally of the rooms that have slowly become classrooms. My classroom looks almost ready to go! I have a ceiling, electricity, and running water. All I need is carpet, whiteboards, and bulletin boards. Even my skylights open and close now. I am a pretty lucky girl. Eating it every day.).

21 March, 2015. I love teaching. I cannot imagine a career that I would adore as much as teaching. My students and lessons completely fill my thoughts, even when I am not at school. This can be a good thing. Several hands were raised. I knew the question was coming. What happened to you? I told them. I awkwardly fumbled with the words that I had only told five other people in the world. A few tears escaped. A couple of my students cried with me. And then what happened? Okay Not friends. How about you...

14 July, 2013. Just a few things I made and how I fixed my lamination. This week, I was a little slow in making things. I put up my bulletin board fabrics and went to meetings instead. I did, however, make two decorations for my classroom. The first is a sign I will put over all the supplies I have for my students. I just cut out the letters and the banners then assembled it with washi tape on the top and bottom. The last thing I did was to fix my lamination. Let's zoom in a bit. The lamination on this p...

24 March, 2013. Random Acts of Kindness. This is the story of how I try to teach my students about being kind to others and how I got a student suspended. (Sound intriguing? Fast forward a day or two. I had just changed the seats of every student. One of my boys, D, was mad at me. Extremely mad. Madder than I had ever seen him. So mad that as the class was heading out the door for lunch, he asked me, "What would happen if I kicked you? D punched G in the face! G is D's cute little cousin. Translation: "D...
