I was one of those students that was on the wrong side of the achievement gap and the income gap. My mother was a single mother, my grandmother was my primary babysitter and the block doesn’t scare me. Thursday, February 28, 2013. AKA the State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness test. The countdown for STAAR tests. In just a few short weeks, my class will take STAAR exams for writing, reading and math to assess their mastery of fourth grade skills. My kiddos will need to write narrative and expository essays, read various passages and answer questions to assess comprehension, and solve intense 2-step math problems. Their brains are really put to the test at this point in the year.as is mine!
