Discouraged | Teaching My First Year
https://teachingmyfirstyear.wordpress.com/2009/10/27/discouraged
Teaching My First Year. Tales of a 5th Grade Charter School Teacher. Discouraged October 27, 2009. 8212; kathleengause @ 11:17 am. I’m so ridiculously discouraged right now. The students took a unit test on the Renaissance this morning. Their scores are looking horrific. They have unit test for science this afternoon. I hope they do better on the science test. If not, I’ll feel like a failure as a teacher. 2 Responses to “Discouraged”. October 31, 2009 at 11:09 pm. November 3, 2009 at 10:34 pm.
Where does the accountability lie? | Teaching My First Year
https://teachingmyfirstyear.wordpress.com/2009/11/24/where-does-the-accountability-lie
Teaching My First Year. Tales of a 5th Grade Charter School Teacher. Where does the accountability lie? November 24, 2009. 8212; kathleengause @ 12:17 am. One of the distinguishing differences of my charter school is that we provide students opportunities to learn at their challenge level. This has been difficult to define and also to implement. We’ve attempted to level the students as best as we can although it is very tricky. Or do I trust that this other teacher is re-mediating appropriately? That sai...

Teaching My First Year. Tales of a 5th Grade Charter School Teacher. Possibly the most brilliant thing I’ve done to date August 5, 2009. 8212; kathleengause @ 1:02 pm. I sent out an email last night with the three surveys attached that I last posted about. It is quite possibly the most brilliant thing I’ve done in my teaching (very short) career. 3 Responses to “Possibly the most brilliant thing I’ve done to date”. August 12, 2009 at 4:55 pm. It’s days like today | Teaching My First Year
https://teachingmyfirstyear.wordpress.com/2009/09/14/its-days-like-today
Teaching My First Year. Tales of a 5th Grade Charter School Teacher. It’s days like today September 14, 2009. 8212; kathleengause @ 5:04 pm. I woke up with an awful headache. I really wanted to stay in bed. But I’m still not set up for a substitute, so that wasn’t even an option. My students were all very talkative. They were in and out of their seats. It was almost impossible to keep their attention at times. One Response to “It’s days like today”. September 15, 2009 at 3:19 pm. Enter your comment here.

Teaching My First Year. Tales of a 5th Grade Charter School Teacher. A message home August 4, 2009. 8212; kathleengause @ 9:50 am. I have an email to my families ready to send out as soon as I get my Excelsior email (which is supposed to be today). This email will include a brief introduction of myself, but its primary purpose is to obtain information from my parents and students. I created three surveys using surveymonkey. Simply Splendid: Something else to read in your spare time

If people did not do silly things, nothing intelligent would ever get done. - Ludwig Wittgenstein. Tuesday, August 4, 2009. Something else to read in your spare time. You're going to think I'm silly, but I've created yet another blog. I like to keep these things separated. I really like the reflective process and want to reflect and share my experiences of my first year teaching. If you are interested, jump on over to http:/ teachingmyfirstyear.wordpress.com/. The future has a way of arriving unannounced. Friday, August 28, 2009. First Week of School. Insanely busy. I adore my kids. I fall asleep smiling.but I fall asleep FAST. :-). Sunday, August 16, 2009. Is going to hold the contractors to it, because I really don't know how to install a ceiling sprinkler system myself. (Which my room still needs.) Did I mention that school starts in a week? Thursday, August 13, 2009. Out of the Best Books. Today I started reading a book called Reviving Ophelia. We can stre...

Tuesday, July 21, 2015. Quick Tip: Bind Your Professional Books! Notice anything different about my Reading Strategies Book. Yes, I had that book bound! This might be the best thing ever. I have to give credit to Jennie Motes Smith who posted about doing it to some of her books on the Notice and Note Facebook page. Unfortunately, there was one down side. This particular book is a little large for the largest spiral Staples has. If you look at the picture below, you can see that the book curves ar...Havin...
