We have had adventures and we have had lazy days but the weekends are such a welcome break to life's routines and we are thankful! Welcome to the weekends! Oh, and Halloween). Monday, September 22, 2014. We cannot wait to open windows and wear long pants. I cannot wait to grip my coffee cup for some added warmth. Pumpkin bread in the oven and longer dog walks. It's coming.I can feel it! We are willing its arrival by plans to go apple picking this weekend and planning camping trips. The most wonderful time of the year! All is well with Team Tully. The last tuesday before lent is Pancake day. Here I am showing the oldest known recipe for pancakes. It is from the apicius cookbook. Most likely this is a greek recipe, and not a roman recipe. There were 2 varieties listed. The first is with wheat flour was called tēganitēs. The second is simply made with spelt flour instead, and is called staitinos. 1 Cups White Flour. 1 Cups Wheat Flour. 2 Cups curdled milk(Buttermilk). Mix all the ingredients together. Pour a small amount onto a hot greased pan.
