Participation with the TTRG. We are seeking to enhance all aspects of research, development and application of telepresence. To this end we encourage participation from all interested parties and welcome suggestions for collaboration and future direction of our efforts.

We are pleased to acknowledge the contributions we have received over the last few years from the EPSRC. Personal Communications, Alvis Logistics, Babtie. Engineering, BT, and The University of Strathclyde. There remain many opportunities to develop the technology for individual applications areas. Strategy

To seek funding from all identifiable national and international sources in the public, industrial, and private sectors, to finance research and development projects. These projects will be multidisciplinary where possible to ensure the full spectrum of mechatronic, communication, and human factor aspects are appropriately addressed. To strengthen and expand the existing team.

To create, through research and development, the first telepresence. System that allows a user to experience the sensation of being fully present at a remote site. This implies that the interface between the user and the surrogate presence will be completely transparent.

Previous TTRG Projects

Arm System for Telepresence. Is currently working on a robot arm system designed to enhance the telepresence. Experience. This is achieved by allowing the user to interact with the surrounding environment by manipulating objects remote from his location. See Tamer's Arm Page. For an animated demonstration of his work. Video Live From Glasgow, Scotland! This integrated camera control and video compression unit was developed by the TTRG. You can move the camera around using the control window and view the incoming video in real time with the video window. The video can then be stopped and started with the buttons in the video window.
