My Soapbox for Equestrian Writings. Welcome to Equine Ink. How much fun is a horse’s tail? August 4, 2015. I love this video of the cat in the horse’s tail. It reminds me of my standard Poodle, Merlin. We got him when he was about a year old and he had never seen a horse before. He used to chase after me when I rode and would grab onto my horse’s tail. My instructor used to laugh until tears ran down her face. You know you don’t have a TB when . . . Finally, some cooler weather. This video is super cute.

My Soapbox for Equestrian Writings. Welcome to Equine Ink. 91st Chincoteague Pony Swim a Success. July 27, 2016. About 200 ponies and foals made the swim this morning during the 91st Chincoteague Pony Swim. The herd was rounded up on Sunday. I was able to watch some of the swim on a live video feed. None of the horses or foals looked to be in distress. This year approximately 200 ponies made the swim and none had any issues, even some of the smaller foals. Once they emerged, there were a few tussles ...

My Soapbox for Equestrian Writings. Welcome to Equine Ink. Quail, cows and pigs, oh my! August 22, 2016. August 21, 2016. This ride had a few surprises on it — some good (beautiful trails) and some a bit scary (a few new animals). Riding with someone who knows the local trails is a treat. This cute little Morgan has just ended a show career and this was his second time out on the trails. Zelda is so much bigger than he is — we looked like Mutt and Jeff. After we left our tour guide (I wanted to ride a bi...

When you live, breathe and sleep horses…. How beginner exercises can help your riding (if you don’t mind looking a bit silly). Remember those exercises we did in riding school as beginners? Round the world, leaning down and touching your toes and of course, no stirrups? Well it just so happens that these old gems can be super beneficial to your riding. My beloved pony Sian, when I was a little girl! I had an adult’s riding lesson at Quob Stables. The things I learnt from this were:. I also used to love r...

Life revolves around horses. First Show of the Year. April 10, 2017. We took the mismatched bays out to a local hunter show, and overall, it went great! It was such a fun day, I can’t wait to do it again. We arrived about 11:30 and discovered that the show was actually moving along quite quickly, and it was almost time for D’Arcy to ride. This is the first time this has ever happened at a hunter show for me. There was no sitting around for hours waiting for my class! I KID, I KID. We had joked with the s...
