The Danielle Marie Koran Foundation. Lymphocytic myocarditis may occur in otherwise healthy people and can result in rapidly progressive (and often fatal) heart failure. Sudden death, even in the presence of doctors, can occur. It can develop rapidly with no apparent symptoms. Cold or flu-like symptoms (fever, vomiting, upper respiratory infections) may be present, but it can also develop rapidly with no apparent symptoms. Viruses, bacteria, and toxins can cause lymphocytic myocarditis.
