The “D” Spot. Just another WordPress.com weblog. Democrats to receive brass balls for Christmas. When it comes time to conference and reconcile these two bills from the House and the Senate? The Dems need to play hardball like they’ve never played it before. Pull out all the stops. Discover your inner Lyndon Johnson. Play dirty if you have to. Fuck ’em. My Christmas wish for the Democrats this season? A nice big pair of brass balls, buddy. By Keith A. Owens on December 23, 2009. Terence J. Marsh. Fill in...

The “D” Spot. Just another WordPress.com weblog. The Night the Bradley Effect swallowed John McCain. It is a tragic, painful disease that frequently leaves its victims writhing in confusion as they try desperately to muzzle the conflicting voices raging inside their heads. Strangely enough, this disease only seems to make its appearance during election season – and it only afflicts white people. We are talking, of course, about The Bradley Effect. The late Los Angeles Mayor Tom Bradley. Only this time th...

The Background to DH. Imagine all the People. Last week I had the pleasure of sitting down with two of the people behind the fantastic Detroit-born project, The Imagination Station. To me, the most unique part of this project is the open approach they are taking to the process. Where most new spaces have a grand unveiling of the finished product, The Imagination Station is turning the process itself into an integral part of the project. There will be no “TaDa! Art for the People, By the People. Imagine a...

The Background to DH. Art for the People, By the People. This weekend I got to check out the People’s Art Festival at Russell Industrial. Set between two seemingly abandoned factories on Clay St off I-75, The People’s Art Festival was any indie artist dream. Rows of vendors and live performances tucked around every corner brought an eclectic crowd to the “art mecca” that The Russell has become. Neon Escape playing on the dock. Not only does she take hauntingly beautiful photographs. Courtney mentioned th...

The Background to DH. The Background to DH. I want to write about all the things that I grew up loving about Detroit and the things that I am just now discovering as I am reintroduced to the city. I also want to highlight the incredible number of organizations that work hard to bring positive change and advancement to the city. Most importantly, I don’t want this to be one opinion in a sea of hundreds. I want to know where. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Enter your comment here. Address never made public).

The Background to DH. Running Down Our Detroit Dreams. Most of my time lately has been dedicated to training for the Detroit Free Press Half Marathon. Aka The Tunnel) coming back into the US, through Indian Village, around Belle Isle, and along the River Walk. The race was authentically Detroit.
