KJ's blog: October 2014
http://kjod.blogspot.com/2014_10_01_archive.html
Tuesday, 14 October 2014. A couple of weeks ago I popped home to spend the weekend with family, my head full of such thoughts. At church that Sunday morning the pastor preached from Ecclesiastes 11:1-6, a passage that includes these words:. 8220;Whoever watches the wind will not plant…. As you do not know the path of the wind…. So you cannot understand the work of God the Maker of all things.”. 8220;Did Paul ever get to Spain? It struck me that the passion I have to see my brothers and sisters in Tanzani...

KJ's blog: August 2011
http://kjod.blogspot.com/2011_08_01_archive.html
Monday, 22 August 2011. One thing I love about Tanzanian culture is how easy it is to talk to people (at least, on the surface it is, but getting to know people deeper isn’t so easy). Here’s some recent random encounters:. Down at the market I popped into one little shop to buy some eggs and ended up in. Conversation with the shop owner, discussing deep questions like, “How do you see Tanzania versus England? What advice do you have for us? Why don’t we make progress? Of course, there are also the less p...

Tuesday, 5 August 2014. Three words. So easy to say. So full of meaning. I am currently visiting my parents. On Sunday, my brother and his family joined us for the day, as we all attend the same church. At some point in the afternoon my three-year-old nephew, Ewan, put his arms around me and the conversation went something like this:. Ewan: “I love you”. Me: “I love you too”. 8221; [When do kids grow out of the ‘why’ stage? Me: “Because you are you”. Ewan: “I love you”. Me: “I love you too”. 8220;…...

Wednesday, 19 October 2011. Have you ever borrowed somebody else’s sunglasses and been surprised at how yellow (or pink, or red, or blue…) the world looks, when you had always thought that the world had a definite brownish hint? We all look at the world around us through different coloured glasses. The different colours are our different worldviews. Have you ever thought about how your upbringing in a particular culture that is underlined by a particular worldview affects how you see everything? Cambray ...

KJ's blog: July 2012
http://kjod.blogspot.com/2012_07_01_archive.html
Sunday, 1 July 2012. Is it all over? From some of the questions I have been getting about my plans to return to the UK, I sense there is another question that is being asked behind them all, “Is it all over? 8221; The answer is a resounding, “No! 8221; In my heart I am still ‘KJ in Tanzania’ – though I may not physically be in Tanzania for much longer my heart is still that of a missionary called to serve God cross-culturally. Instead, the question should be, “Where next? It is He wants me to go and how.

KJ's blog: June 2014
http://kjod.blogspot.com/2014_06_01_archive.html
Sunday, 29 June 2014. Who will go with me? Over recent months I have been thinking about returning to Tanzania. In many ways this might seem the obvious thing to do now that my MA is over and my Redcliffe post was only ever intended to be short-term, but it does not. And so I found myself asking that question in prayer, “Who will go with me? 8220;My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.”. So, I continue to make plans to go to Tanzania and daily remind myself of this promise so that I might...
