heymarlo: August 2012
http://heymarlo.blogspot.com/2012_08_01_archive.html
Wednesday, August 22, 2012. So, I probably need to create some sort of classroom blog or teaching blog or something for these sorts of posts, but for now, it's going here. Ok? So This week me and the Pre-K ers are learning all about our 5 senses. Today we had vinegar and water in two bowls and used our senses to tell the difference. It was tons of fun. Tomorrow we will try to tell the difference between sugar and salt. I can't wait. Here goes- sung to the tune of "1,2,3,4,5 Once I caught a fish alive":.

heymarlo: January 2012
http://heymarlo.blogspot.com/2012_01_01_archive.html
Monday, January 30, 2012. Neither do I condemn thee. The biggest thing I have learned from becoming Reformed is that you must let Scripture interpret Scripture. Where Scripture is silent, stay silent. Where it is undeniable, be undeniable. And the questions that inevitably come up? You can search the whole of Scripture and come to an answer. (And if you can't, then just say "I don't know.). They were equals before God! Can you imagine all the questions they had? Is there any universal truth? I am to go b...

heymarlo: The Way Up is Down...
http://heymarlo.blogspot.com/2012/05/way-up-is-down.html
Friday, May 18, 2012. The Way Up is Down. The Christian Life is full of opposite thinking and turning the world's philosophies upside down. The way up is down- "Humble Yourselves in the Sight of the Lord and He will lift you up.". Unlike the world, the way to be fully used by God is NOT by amassing a name for yourself- but by pointing to Him. The world says "Don't let someone treat you like that! They're going to walk all over you! The world says, "You married the wrong person, get out! The world says, "...

heymarlo: On Schooling Choices as Christians, Part 2
http://heymarlo.blogspot.com/2012/09/on-schooling-choices-as-christians-part_18.html
Tuesday, September 18, 2012. On Schooling Choices as Christians, Part 2. This is part 2 of this series. When I'm not typing on an iPad I will try to link to part one, but for now you'll have to scroll back to my last post. Christian school affords the least amount of time and opportunity to be an invested part of your community the way public or homeschool can. However, there are other opportunities around. I love the girl scouts for this reason ( as well as others! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

heymarlo: December 2011
http://heymarlo.blogspot.com/2011_12_01_archive.html
Tuesday, December 27, 2011. That was my little sermonette I preached to myself this year. What did you learn this Christmas? Links to this post. Wednesday, December 7, 2011. The Cookie Lady-Christmas cookie edition. See that box of cake mix right there? It has just become my new best friend when making my new favorite cookie. And I totally made up the (incredibly easy) recipe. First, the backstory. I had found a new recipe on http:/ www.pinterest.com. 3 Cups powdered sugar. 1/2 tsp. vanilla. Next, roll d...

heymarlo: April 2012
http://heymarlo.blogspot.com/2012_04_01_archive.html
Tuesday, April 24, 2012. How Twitter makes me lazy. I've been thinking lately about how people say "everyone has at least 1 book in them." I don't know that I fully agree with that. But I like to wonder sometimes what my book would be. But I do feel compelled to write. I've always been very verbal and the need to process thoughts outside of my own head is big for me. It's what makes me an extrovert in person, and what can make it hard to fall asleep some nights when I have a million thoughts swir...Would...

I hope Mommy lets me eat them, although I know she won't. Thursday, October 26.

http://heymarlo.blogspot.com/2012/08/cheesy-chicken-broccoli-rice.html
Tuesday, August 21, 2012. Cheesy chicken, broccoli and rice. My nine year old was just helping me cook dinner and asked, "Mommy, can I have your recipes someday? Besides being an awesome confidence boost it also was a great reminder to make sure to write down some of my "creative" recipes that actually turned out. So, here's tonight's creative recipe for "Cheesy chicken broccoli and rice"- kid approved! 1 lb Cooked chicken. 15 C cooked rice. 1/4 C vidalia onion (any onion will do, but that's what I used).
