The Scullery Bar

Our very own "Barkeep" talks juice! Sunday, November 29, 2009. Some Water, Some Wine. And then the bill…each bottle costs $9.90, totalling $29.70 for our Hydrogen/Oxygen combo needs. I am not surprised , yet I am disappointed. I am disappointed in the markup applied, disappointed in myself for not rolling with the filtered option, but mainly disappointed in our collective, blind, acceptance of what is surely the great swindle of our eating and drinking culture: imported water. The great Hugh Johnson?

Our very own "Barkeep" talks juice! Friday, June 26, 2009. I'm a little teapot, short and. What's all this got to do with your small bottle of dark and moody strong beer? Special mention must go to Rogue Ale's Chocolate Stout (Oregon, USA, 6.2% alc/vol, $20 per 750mL bottle), which makes the popular Young's Double Chocolate look like a mid strength milk drink. Our very own "Barkeep" talks juice! Thursday, April 2, 2009. The jounery, the search. I love the journey. I love the search. I love the sense of discovery and the series of emotions that accompany a truly unique drink. Do you care as much as your intense author? Do you like the anonymity of consuming liquids that are just available everywhere? At your local, colour coded-shop-that-has-all-the-brands-i-have-been-told-to-buy-at-let's-go-crazy-prices-because-no-one-else-could-sell-it? Taxing week at work, n...

Our very own "Barkeep" talks juice! Saturday, February 14, 2009. What The Barkeep Loves. I love wine, I love beer. I love whisky, whiskey and other weird and wonderful concoctions that are usually fermented, distilled, or fortified. I am honoured to be your Barkeep at the Scullery Bar, an extension of the fabulous and fearless Scullery. Of all the wondrous grape varieties and their blends/co-ferments, I think Riesling delivers flavour and versatility to the glass more often than not. Don't be scared of t...

Food, booze and anything else that is digested. Wednesday, September 30, 2009. I love Pho` and it loves me. There are moments when I am in a Asian grocer and I want to buy just about everything knowing it could significantly shorten my life or those around me. I press on and buy stuff that looks good, I usually stick with some consistent brands like the. Pantainorasingh Brand or Ayam. Even though being made in Thailand) I read the ingredients in this Pho` paste and saw Monosodium Glutamate E621. Aside fr...

Its rare and often rarer that you find yourself confronted by the petrified faces of four rockylobsters. Shelled, sliced and spritely dressed with tarragon hollandaise. Garlic oiled crusty bread and hass avocados beneath the lobstock. All of the mass beside a salad of prawns and scallops. A meal of substance and some finesse, Chardonnay from Heathcote, made in Coonawarra. Lovely, positively lovely!

Food, booze and anything else that is digested. Saturday, December 24, 2011. Xmas festivities pt.2. The yellow fruit salad had smatterings of local strawberries, delicious with honeyed yoghurt. The Wynns late picked Riesling is absolutely sweeter than it really needs to be, trying to describe the mustiness that permeates the golden brew is difficult. I put it down to a little bit of botrytis and a little bit of toe jam. Finishing the eve with a Laphroaig 12yo sm. down in my belly! Buy fifa 15 coins.
