Land With View For Sale. Thursday, April 30, 2015. My creative side much prefers to design small wall pieces. However, the numerous boxes of batik fabrics my generous friend Helen gifted me call out for attention too. Regular readers of this blog know patchwork isn't my favorite construction style. Though I do enjoy hand sewing the binding.which most quilters try to avoid! Wednesday, April 29, 2015. But of course stopping is impossible.like so many of you, having a needle in my hand feeds the soul. Not s...

JUDYMQUILTS: August 2014
http://judymakinson.blogspot.com/2014_08_01_archive.html
Friday, 29 August 2014. I spent my last Friday afternoon off "canning" or "preserving". My nephews (bless their souls) harvested their garden and brought their aunt some beets and cucumbers. Since I hadn't done this before, I had to search for recipes, then go shopping for items that I didn't have. Boiling the beets alone took almost an hour. Then cool, rinse, peel and slice, make brine, then water bath. But, look at that red! My reward - lots of cucumber relish. Sunday, 24 August 2014. Showed the juxtap...

JUDYMQUILTS: October 2014
http://judymakinson.blogspot.com/2014_10_01_archive.html
Sunday, 26 October 2014. I've signed up again for a postcard exchange at the Halton Hills Quilters' Guild. I have hundreds of postcards and don't know what to do with all of them, but I love making them - little tiny pieces of art. I just received this one (a little late from last year's exchange). I love the simplicity of it, and it's perfect timing to celebrate Fall. Thursday, 23 October 2014. I started using black cotton. A dried fern leaf was used to give a mask of the leaf's shape. I ran out of pre-...

Friday, 27 June 2014. With the Project Linus quilt still in mind, I thought that I would quickly put together another quilt to give away. I've had the green fabrics on my cutting board for weeks, but time slips by. I've missed the deadline but still made a quilt top. Looking at it I think "Is this all that it could be? Nope I have plans. Stay tuned. Tuesday, 24 June 2014. PRESIDENT'S CHALLENGE - PEAR STILL LIFE. I guess she got hungry during the shoot. Saturday, 21 June 2014. THE SECRET LIFE OF BEES.

This one is a stamped partridge (prevalent in Africa) on a hand-dyed background. Now a few trees:. Tracey sent a lovely "retro" style tree. These are mine - kinda abstract. Monday, 15 July 2013.

JUDYMQUILTS: December 2013
http://judymakinson.blogspot.com/2013_12_01_archive.html
Monday, 16 December 2013. I'm always looking for neat, inexpensive, gift ideas for co-workers. This year I came across this Pinterest post:. The tag was printed on label paper and applied to card stock. The card stock was scored, folded and stapled to a small bag filled with noses. The hardest part was picking out the brown and red "noses" from the M&M bulk bin. Saturday, 14 December 2013. Here's the gift that I put together: Movie Night at Home. Thursday, 12 December 2013. JUDYMQUILTS: March 2013
http://judymakinson.blogspot.com/2013_03_01_archive.html
Wednesday, 13 March 2013. I'm not what you'd call a "beader". I love the look, but do I really want to put in the time? Well, I've been trying to add beads to my latest project. Here's a peak at what I've been doing. A few more weeks of stitching should do it. Thursday, 7 March 2013. Recently, I was asked to make some covers for some Japanese swords. I immediately thought that it was time to try Sashiko (What was I thinking? This is just under a half metre of fabric. Here's a closer look. I started by pu...
