The fountain of hurt « the unknown rider
http://www.theunknownrider.com/2013/08/11/the-fountain-of-hurt
Racing, riding and adventure by bike. The fountain of hurt. Even so, the creek was beautiful. The sun was shining and there are a lot of other places left to look so our options aren’t exhausted. Oh, and there was a pie shop in the middle and a pub at the end. What’s not to like? Sunday, August 11th, 2013 at 6:31 pm. One Response to “The fountain of hurt”. 15/08/2013 at 8:39 pm. 2013 AZTR 300 day 1 « the unknown rider
http://www.theunknownrider.com/2013/05/07/2013-aztr-300-day-1
Racing, riding and adventure by bike. 2013 AZTR 300 day 1. Right; enough with the flowery self indulgent AZT wrap up. Instead, this is the full ride report with photos and stuff that everyone is really interested in rather than me just moaning and feeling sorry for myself. Firstly, from an archive sense for people googling AZTR blogs in years to come – I set out for the full meal deal. It didn’t come off and instead I pulled the pin at the end of the 300 and these are my experiences:. We had a quick navi...
Broken Kona Unit :( « the unknown rider

Racing, riding and adventure by bike. Broken Kona Unit :(. All good things must come to an end. I’ve had the little unit for about 11 months now it is no longer fully rigid. It now has several inches of lateral travel in the rear spelling the end of that frame set. Next up will be a custom AK rigid steel 29er with a few tweaks to make it a slightly better bike-packing machine. The Kona can hang on the wall next to the broken KHS in memory of good times and lucky escapes. Required fields are marked *.

Racing, riding and adventure by bike. There was also more log features than you could poke a stick at. Big stumps with roll overs, long log rides, techy skinny’s, seesaws – it was just sensational. Unfortunately, that set the bar unobtainably high for the remainder of the ride. We connected through to wallaroo by some functional but hardly inspirational fire trails. On any other day, they would have been a nice ride, but after the Medowie madness we were stoked out of our mind. Bad Idea Racing – Te...

Racing, riding and adventure by bike. 2013 AZTR: What worked & what didn’t. Here’s a few thoughts about what I got right and what I got wrong:. The stuff I got right:. 2 Rigid – I made the right call to stick with what I normally ride rather than putting on a squishy fork just for this race. Rigid wasn’t a handicap if it is what you are used to. Front light. http://dave-livingthedream.blogspot.com/2015/08/tour-divide-2015-day-8.html
Tuesday, August 4, 2015. Tour Divide 2015 - Day 8. I had set my alram for a leisurely 6am. When it went off I just lay there for a few minutes thinking "do I really have to get on my bike today"? I grabbed my phone off the charger and looked at Trackleaders to see where people were. There was a conga line of about 8 riders making their way into Lima from about 20 miles out right up to 5 miles out! I could see that Brett, Josh and Jill were in the group. I didn't want to be passed by that many riders!

Monday, August 31, 2015. Tour Divide - Day 18. I slept in until 5:30am this morning. When my alarm went off I just lay there for a few minutes, thinking how comfortable this was. I knew I had to get up but I was tired, very tired. But this was a race and lazing around in Cuba wasn't in the program so I jumped up and started packing all of my dry, clean gear onto my bike. I had plenty of snacks for today's easy. On trail conditions north and south and I pitied these guys having to climb the Polvadeara Mes...

Truth is a lie in itself. It is not the same as reality. While we can never truly perceive reality directly we can understand how it works. While you have been living your life, there has been another story developing. While its context is hidden, its action is directly observable by everyone. A secret plan has been in motion for thousands of years, soon it will be revealed what the true purpose of it has been all along.

Musings and occasional thoughts from the desk of Philip Lancaster. Who, What & Why? July 19, 2016. Arthur Benjamin in the Trenches. July 7, 2016. In early 1917 the composer Arthur Benjamin was serving with the Royal Fusiliers in the trenches of France. In the Gurney archive, at Gloucestershire Archives, is held a letter, dated 26 January 1917, that I cannot help but transcribe for his description of his situation. Benjamin writes to Marion Scott:. It is all very lovely. I think it delightful of them [the...
