Avoiding the Red Light

Mexico . Brazil. Canada . Holland. Monday, June 1, 2015. It was still early in the morning when I arrived in Da Lat. The air was crisp and had a chill to it I hadn't experienced in months. Although only a few hours away from Saigon, the altitude's effect on the climate was widely apparent. The primary reason most tourists make the jaunt inland to the hillside town instead of continuing north along the coast was the same as my own: an Easy Rider tour. Parked in front of my hostel, (the hostel I booked ahe...

Avoiding the Red Light: In with the new

http://theviewfromeurope.blogspot.com/2015/01/in-with-new.html

Mexico . Brazil. Canada . Holland. Monday, January 26, 2015. In with the new. Unlike a large majority of entrance visas in the world, Vietnam requires an entry date. One in which you will only enter on. However, just like the large majority of the world's entry visas, the country only allows up to a 30 day permit. With the ability and desire to use every allotted day, selecting a date while unsure of your plans becomes a game of Russian Roulette. Im excited about Vietnam just from the picture. Wow! Hang ...

Avoiding the Red Light: to Timbuktu and back

http://theviewfromeurope.blogspot.com/2011/03/to-timbuktu-and-back.html

Mexico . Brazil. Canada . Holland. Wednesday, March 16, 2011. To Timbuktu and back. That acclaim turned worldwide in the mid 1300's when the ruler of Mali carried so much gold with him (180 tons worth) on his way to Mecca, that when he stopped in Egypt the Egyptian currency lost its value and put both Mali and Timbuktu on the map. Avoiding the Red Light: "It's strange to think that you have to come to a communist country in order to feel free." - expat living in Vietnam

http://theviewfromeurope.blogspot.com/2015/03/its-strange-to-think-that-you-have-to.html

Mexico . Brazil. Canada . Holland. Tuesday, March 3, 2015. It's strange to think that you have to come to a communist country in order to feel free." - expat living in Vietnam. And if there was one thing I've learned from my travels, it is this: a locale is best explored with a local. Anthony, luckily, was well enough versed with Ho Chi Minh City to be one. Hopping on the back of his motorbike, we traversed the city, weaving in and around the thousands of other motorbike drivers congesting the roads....

The Snow Report: December 2011

http://jennyandjake.blogspot.com/2011_12_01_archive.html

Thursday, December 29, 2011. We had a fun Christmas season this year. The girls loved reading Christmas stories by the Christmas tree with daddy. They especially loved hearing the Nutcracker story however they weren't quite so sure about meeting him. A fierce looking Nutcracker and ballerina came to our library to visit the kids. Madison was pretty scared of the Nutcracker as you can see in the pictures. Posted by Jenny and Jake. This was Madison's third dance recital. She absolutely loves dance clas...

http://jennyandjake.blogspot.com/2011_11_01_archive.html

Sunday, November 27, 2011. What a fun Halloween! Madison and Emerie had a great time dressing up this year. Madison wanted to be Sleeping Beauty riding a flying unicorn and Emerie picked out her dinosor costume. Emerie gave some great scary faces as she roared around the house and neighborhood! They loved going to Halloween parties! Madison even had a Hallween parade at her preschool. There is nothing like going around getting lots of candy! Love their family themed costume! The Snow Report: First Day At The Beach

http://jennyandjake.blogspot.com/2012/09/first-day-at-beach.html

Saturday, September 8, 2012. First Day At The Beach. This last spring we went to Hilton Head Island in SC. We absolutely loved it! We have been to Myrtle beach and this was ten times better! It was such a nice family friendly place! We stayed at a condo right on the beach! We could wake up and just walk outside to the beach! I knew it wouldn't be a vacation if we had to get in and out of a car to go to the beach. Kids and lots of sand and a car don't mix very well:). It was so much fun to watch! Don't th...

Bon appétit!: Happy Fourth

http://bloggingbycourtney.blogspot.com/2009/08/happy-fourth.html

I know, I know - my holidays are all kinds of jacked up. Here it is August, and I'm blogging about Christmas and the Fourth of July. What can I say? I guess Smokey Bear's Birthda. Just isn't as bloggable. What was in the bag? Among patriotic Tootsie Rolls and Fireballs:. Because what says "Happy birthday, America" better than Swedish Fish? With love, Courtney. LOL Is your building run by Capital Associates? August 10, 2009 at 8:30 AM. It is TOTALLY Capital Associates! I will cross my fingers for Labor Day.

The Walker Family: October 2013

http://canadianamericanfamily.blogspot.com/2013_10_01_archive.html

Thursday, October 31, 2013. The morning of Halloween Wyatt had to go in for surgery. He needed to have his tear ducts opened so his eyes would quit draining so much. It was very scary to watch him being wheeled back for surgery. I probably prayed the whole time he was gone. It was actually rather quick and he was back in my arms. He managed it better than I did. Had to stop at Bishop Townsend's house! This is the McCormacks. Such a sweet couple and she is Owens primary teacher and he loves her. I took El...

The Walker Family: August 2013

http://canadianamericanfamily.blogspot.com/2013_08_01_archive.html

Friday, August 23, 2013. For Tessa's third birrthday she had a princess party. She had a few neighborhood kids over for some fun. Later that night we had family over to celebrate. Wednesday, August 21, 2013. Wyatt continues to grow right before our eyes. We had many play dates with Rylee Udy, one of Ella's closest friends. Owen thought he was going to keep this preying mantis as a pet. Owen started 1st grade at Canyon Rim Academy. Tuesday, August 20, 2013. This is what we call a rock hunt!

Bon appétit!: January 2011

http://bloggingbycourtney.blogspot.com/2011_01_01_archive.html

A lot has happened since I last blogged. Here are some of the highlights (to be expanded on - or not - in the future):. Francine the Ford Focus (a.k.a. the "Forcus") went to the Great Car Lot in the sky. I got a new car (Captain Scurvy, a Mercury Mariner). He's dreamy. My roommate got married. I moved to a new apartment. In a new ward. In a new stake. I adopted two furry little roommates: Conan O'Brien and Gracie. Went to New York. With love, Courtney. That's a little bit of English-major humor.

The View From Earth

This is a personal journal about the positive viewpoints from a recovering negative person. Sunday, January 13, 2013. Not much going on in the world of enlightenment these days . I think I stalled out a bit. It is good to just enjoy where we are sometimes, staying "in the now", and that's what I've been doing. The best part about being creative is seeing the results. Happy faces when those gifted enjoy what they received is another perk. Life can be sweet! And don't forget to enjoy the little moments.

The View From Falling Downs. Thursday, August 13, 2015. I see where Mario Andretti was in town today. Holy friggin Jeezus. that's right next to the Pope coming to town in my book! This is a guy who elbowed his way into the winner's circle in NASCAR, Formula One, and Indy. Not too may folks have repeated that trifecta. But thanks for stopping by, Mario! Posted by D. Neumann.
