thinking out loud

Monday, May 11, 2009. The Spirituality of the Cell Phone. When was the last time you turned off your cell phone? Confession time - my cell phone is on 24/7 (during daylight hours my phone is set to vibrate and the ringer is on during the night). Now I do have a a very good reason why I do not turn off my phone. I am a pastor and keeping my cell phone on provides my congregation 24/7 access to me; and isn't that what being a pastor is all about? What does it mean to be God-like (created in the imago dei.

thinking out loud: Q: Power and Privilege (Andy Crouch)

http://thinkingoutloud49.blogspot.com/2009/05/q-power-and-privilege-andy-crouch.html

Monday, May 4, 2009. Q: Power and Privilege (Andy Crouch). Last week I had the privilege of traveling to Austin, TX and participating in my second Q. Due to a nightmarish travel experience with Northwest and Delta, I missed the morning session of Q and arrived just in time for Andy Crouch's. Afternoon session. Andy is the author of Culture-Making. Andy stated with a great question: "what happens when culture-making actually works? Are there any areas of rent in your life? This is something I am thinking ...

Thursday, March 26, 2009. An Invitation to Join Me on a W-Trek. Most of you know worship is one of my personal passions. As I look back at my ministry over the last 25 years, I can see how God has used me to invite people and communities to enter more deeply into the mysterious thing we call worship. And so I invite you to join me for a W-Trek. What is a W-trek? Who should attend a W-trek? Signpost One: what is worship? Signpost Two: worship in the post-modern world. Signpost Four: epic worship. Saturday...

Thursday, January 29, 2009. Martin Smith is one of my favorite musicians, songwriters, and worship leaders. Along with his mates in Delirious. Over the last 15 years they have created some amazing music. The band is winding down their work together in 2009, but Martin Smith has released catalyzed a project that has tremendous potential to bring real help and hope to people in real need. The project is called. Smith describes the journey of Compassion Art:. Monday, January 19, 2009. A Testament of Hope.

Thursday, December 25, 2008. Enter the Story - Merry Christmas. But the angel said to them, "Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord. (Luke 2:10-11). O come o come Emmanuel. And ransom captive hearts that fell. Bring peace on earth and love’s goodwill for everyone. For You so loved the world You gave. Your life for us to heal and save. We rejoice with the angels,. Launched a...

Sommeroutfits in Weiß Otto Kleiderspende. Mittwoch, August 19, 2015. Heute gibt's was Neues!

Thinking Out Loud

A head full of stories and lessons learned that need to be spoken out loud. Monday, March 14, 2011. Salt Water in My Soul. Two little sailors ready to take on the world. I turned 50 on Long Beach Island. Although I don’t live here anymore, it seems a fitting place to celebrate … in this place where my roots have been laid so deep. I am 50. Why not come “home” and rest awhile? I have traveled from merchant to merchant. I love the bay. At the end of Fourth Street in Surf City (when my Island roots were bei...

Thinking out Loud

October 31, 2016. Diwali is the festival of lights and banishing darkness and ignorance. In India (and now also many other parts of the world) Diwali is celebrated with lighting lamps and decorative lanterns, bursting crackers, wearing new dresses etc. etc. etc. Surely, Diwali is also a time for giving and sharing with those who are less fortunate. Bringing smiles to those who are homeless and those for whom every day is the same and there is no reason (nor the means) to celebrate. One comment so far.

A chance to say hello … I will respond. I'm a teacher, again. To me writing is currently a release. I haven't quite decided to what degree it is I'm searching within my words, yet, I feel something matters somewhere, right? August 16, 2015. I can hear the sound at night,. The clasp when the handle shakes. As the door slams shut. This is not an offensive sound,. Simply the mechanics of the entry. Tonight, while I lay in bed,. Having usurped the beauty of summer’s heat,. My head is gradually shifting,.
