The Pedestrianist: Ravelling
http://thepedestrianist.blogspot.com/2007/05/such-great-ikon-gathering-on-sunday.html
I used to run, but too often in the wrong direction. Tuesday, May 22, 2007. Such a great Ikon gathering on Sunday night, titled ‘The God Delusion’. Here is the piece I read. Here I am unravelling! It began with a doubt. A tickling thread, an element itching. Not much, but at the time I wanted it gone; I prayed for it to disappear. Unravelling. Some early questions coming out of the fray: How can I claim to know God? How can I comfortably address Infinite-God in prayer? What is my faith made of? But unrav...

The Pedestrianist: Forced Hypocrites
http://thepedestrianist.blogspot.com/2007/05/forced-hypocrites.html
I used to run, but too often in the wrong direction. Sunday, May 06, 2007. Representative democracy where decisions that affect us are made without us, and that affect others are done in our name. At best we are forced hypocrites, cursing our wallets as we feed and clothe ourselves while standing on the backs of others, cursing our ballot papers as we decry the politicians. Curse our failure, us forced hypocrites, there is no righteousness in our actions. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

The Pedestrianist: Lexikon - scattered words on words
http://thepedestrianist.blogspot.com/2010/03/lexikon.html
I used to run, but too often in the wrong direction. Tuesday, March 09, 2010. Lexikon - scattered words on words. My piece for Ikon's 'Lexikon' gathering (Feb '10). Languages are only proxies of our minds, endeavouring but failing to summarise what we experience. To illustrate – although somewhat urban-mythologised, the notion of there being many Eskimo words for ‘snow’ helps us understand how our own language for snow is inadequate. 8211; Gustave Flaubert (Madame Bovary). The Pedestrianist: Black Rebel Motorcycle Club @ The Village, Dublin 26/2/7

I used to run, but too often in the wrong direction. Tuesday, February 27, 2007. Black Rebel Motorcycle Club @ The Village, Dublin 26/2/7. We drove three hours there and back, both of us almost falling asleep to our road deaths on the way home. (Chatting about alcohol and rock ‘n’ roll saved our lives). Keep up the good work. The Pedestrianist: To the Powerful
http://thepedestrianist.blogspot.com/2008/02/to-powerful.html
I used to run, but too often in the wrong direction. Wednesday, February 13, 2008. What is it I want to say? The very place of power you occupy offends the idea of equality; how could dignity and fairness be possible in such a hierarchy? And, Powerful, do you not see that you have found yourself in a place of deprivation? Remove yourself – no –. Yourself from your places of power. Dismantle the hold you have over others. We are, all of us, of an immense and too great a value. Dtpxp xwbjb[url=http:/ drdre...

The Pedestrianist: From an honest life to a hospitable life

I used to run, but too often in the wrong direction. Thursday, October 06, 2011. From an honest life to a hospitable life. Consensual selfishness ( agreeing. September 6, 2010. I’ve enjoyed David Mitchel’s previous novels, including trying to spot the linkages between them. This though, is a standalone novel, albeit involving Japan again, round the turn of the 19. So why didn’t I absolutely love it? I never quite believed the tangled love story it just seemed to emerge as a ...

Intrepid Ephemera: 03/01/2009 - 04/01/2009
http://intrepidephemera.blogspot.com/2009_03_01_archive.html
Thursday, March 26, 2009. Or heck, I could just post it all on that cooking blog I started a while back. You tired of this topic yet, dear reader? I appear to have bored even myself. No, what I originally intended to write about was the tricky, slippery nature of online identity. In my quest for a blog I can share on various profiles that have my name on them, I went looking for a URL I could love. So far, the ones I’ve tried are all taken: http:/ thisfar.blogspot.com/. The Pedestrianist: The Cinema Experience
http://thepedestrianist.blogspot.com/2007/01/cinema-experience.html
I used to run, but too often in the wrong direction. Monday, January 08, 2007. Don’t download poor quality movies - pay for the bad experience at your local cinema. And even if they nailed the picture perfectly, I’m sure the place didn’t have surround sound, the screen was tiny, and, yeah while I’m at it, the seats were a bit cramped. :).
