This German Texan

Friday, June 20, 2014. I love castles, and there are so many in Germany. One that has been on my list for a long time is the Wartburg Castle in Eisenach. Eisenach is a picturesque town in its own right, but most people go to Eisenach to see the Wartburg Castle. The thing about castles is that they are usually way. The hike up there is worth it for the view, though. Even for a castle, the Wartburg is REALLY old: the main hall was built in 1155. Chapel inside the castle. It's a BIG castle! Freyenstein (the...

This German Texan: March 2014

http://www.thisgermantexan.blogspot.com/2014_03_01_archive.html

Thursday, March 27, 2014. Before last weekend, I had only been to Munich once on a tour in high school. The only thing I really remember from that quick run-through was watching the Glockenspiel with the crowd. This time I watched the Glockenspiel, too, but the big event for me was going to the. Bayern-München soccer game at Allianz Arena. When Bayern-München scored a goal, the announcer asked the crowd for the score, for which he then thanked them (and they responded in kind):. This German Texan: March 2013

http://www.thisgermantexan.blogspot.com/2013_03_01_archive.html

Sunday, March 17, 2013. Happy St. Patrick's Day! Since it is St. Patrick's Day, I thought it would be a good time to mention a trip I took two weeks ago to Dublin. In the garden next to St. Patrick's in Dublin. I'll take you." Two stops later, the driver turned the empty double-decker bus around and dropped us off in front of our hotel. That's the kind of trip it was; even the weather cooperated. I've heard it rains a lot (everything was green! But we were blessed with great weather. Could be a cousin.

This German Texan: It Happened in Bosnia

http://www.thisgermantexan.blogspot.com/2013/11/it-happened-in-bosnia.html

Tuesday, November 19, 2013. It Happened in Bosnia. I was only in Bosnia for a short time last spring, but it was long enough to know that I wanted to go back. I told my students I was flying to Sarajevo on Thursday, and one of them said, "You go to all the weird places." Maybe so. I can't explain it, but I am fascinated by the Balkan region. All sides had all committed atrocities; therefore, they were all equally guilty, right? I don’t think so anymore. During World War II, Croats murdered many Serbs; th...

http://adamandkaralangley.blogspot.com/2012_10_01_archive.html

Thursday, October 25, 2012. I had my 20 week check-up on Tuesday (October 23). The first thing we saw was that our baby is going to be a little girl. She was positioned bottom-up, and there was no doubt from the Ultrasound Tech that it's a GIRL! She is measuring a few days further along then they originally thought. Her head is big, in the 75%. Everything checked out within the normal healthy range. Now we need to decide on a name. Right before the check-up. My parents gave us a fun card to open. 19 Week...

About This Georgia Life A note from the Editor. Peach Cobbler Recipe Cast Iron Skillet Style. June 12, 2015. June 11, 2015. The temptation was too great. The peaches were sitting right there in front of us. It just seemed like the only logical thing to do. Peach Cobbler simply had to be made. From scratch. With the peaches we got from Lane Southern Orchards. This past weekend. And there was no way we were following the recipe word for word. That would be too easy. 1/2 cup of sugar. 1 cup of condensed milk.
