Walking Circumspectly: PSA. People, we've got to get together on this.

Thursday, April 17, 2008. PSA People, we've got to get together on this. Please, please, please. For the love of Pete. To all those sweet folk out there who believe whatever happens to land in their inbox:. If the message is preceded by Fwd: Fwd: Fwd:, it is probably not true. Just believing me on that one will save you countless hours and a lot of dignity. If the claim sounds totally wild and you haven't heard it from any reputable news source yet, it's probably false. If you aren't sure, check. Then th...

Walking Circumspectly: Making the Impossible Possible
http://walkingcircumspectly.blogspot.com/2008/05/making-impossible-possible.html
Friday, May 30, 2008. Making the Impossible Possible. So, I am going back to work. Once upon a time, even the thought of having to do that struck terror in my heart. I always said that my child would never go to a daycare and assumed I'd be able to stay home. My vision for family life did not include my working. The reality of my situation, though- financially, mostly- slowly changed my mind over the course of many months. My Ideal and my Real weren't lining up. The truth is that I have had sixteen month...

Walking Circumspectly: January 2007
http://walkingcircumspectly.blogspot.com/2007_01_01_archive.html
Sunday, January 28, 2007. Noah Daniel arrived at 10:43 PM Saturday, January 20! He weighed in at 7.5 pounds and measured 20.75 inches. As you see, he's completely precious. He's already firmly established his character in the "sweet and snuggly" category. I can't believe anything can smell and look so perfect. I have been completely exhausted this week. I just had my longest stretch of sleep in 7 days- three hours in duration. Bliss. Sunday, January 28, 2007. Saturday, January 13, 2007. I really, REALLY ...

Walking Circumspectly: July 2006
http://walkingcircumspectly.blogspot.com/2006_07_01_archive.html
Monday, July 31, 2006. California Trip and Update, with Pictures. I am currently in sunny California (okay, overcast California, but with the heat wave they've had lately, I'll take it). I'm on a much-desired vacation while Ryan works a little bit this week. In baby-related news, I am happy to report that I have FINALLY emerged from an 8-week bout of almost constant nausea. When you're in the thick of it, it feels like you'll never feel really well again! How dear to our hearts they will always be! I'll ...

Walking Circumspectly: August 2007
http://walkingcircumspectly.blogspot.com/2007_08_01_archive.html
Tuesday, August 21, 2007. Oh Yeah, I Just Used the Word 'Phoenix'. Everything everyone says before you have the baby, the stuff that makes your eyes roll and the stuff that you think you don't care about, is true. Sleep, and your attitude towards it, is forever changed. Your tummy looks like it's been through a war- and suffered defeat. Your memory is suddenly so bad that you fear early dementia. You look like What Not to Wear. Tuesday, August 21, 2007. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). The Bad News First.

Walking Circumspectly: Pinching
http://walkingcircumspectly.blogspot.com/2008/05/pinching.html
Monday, May 12, 2008. Maybe some of you more experienced moms can help me here. Um, how do you deal with a baby pinching you (and others)? Obviously, I firmly say, "no pinching," and "ouch." He'll then look right in my eyes, smiling as though what he did was funny. Sometimes he will do it to himself, lightly, and say "ouch," as if to confirm that is correct. He's so impish, it's hard not to laugh when he does this, but I am usually successful at hiding my amusement. What's the answer? Monday, May 12, 2008.

Walking Circumspectly: Let's Get Metaphysical...or Not.
http://walkingcircumspectly.blogspot.com/2008/05/lets-get-metaphysicalor-not.html
Monday, May 05, 2008. Let's Get Metaphysical.or Not. The New York Times. Just dubbed Louise Hay, occult icon and publishing guru, the Queen of the New Age. The article is worth reading to get a synopsis of the savvy marketing done by occult businesspeople. It's nothing new for occultists like Louise Hay or Rhonda Byrne, author of The Secret. To tout positive thinking: it's the idea that you can think into existence whatever you desire. Mel Lawrenz, reviewing The Secret. You brought it on yourself. In per...

Walking Circumspectly: August 2006
http://walkingcircumspectly.blogspot.com/2006_08_01_archive.html
Thursday, August 31, 2006. Branching Out Again: FOOD! I made Chicken Picadillo from a recipe I got from. The other day. More on that in a minute. If I could buy a magazine for every newlywed, it might be this one. Especially newlyweds who, like me, had a rather. Of dishes at which he or she is an expert. (Mine consisted of Pop Tarts, spaghetti- I was proud of that one- a mean batch of brownies from a mix, and Lean Cuisine pizzas.). One of my favorite. Features is their travel section, in which the writer...

Walking Circumspectly: April 2008
http://walkingcircumspectly.blogspot.com/2008_04_01_archive.html
Tuesday, April 29, 2008. Update on Us, and Some Random Schtuff. I wrote a while ago about our family's struggle with Noah's sleeping habits. I am glad to report to you that things are so much better now. Noah wasn't one of those kids who started falling asleep on his own after one night of just 15 minutes of crying or anything (! But after a couple of weeks, he's sleeping through the night. We were interrupted by a cold that, naturally, changed the game plan for a time. At Ben and Jerry's. Heck YEAH!
