All That Wanderlust

Where have you been? Mostar, Bosnia & Herzegovina. The beating sun of Dubrovnik was long gone and as we arrived in cloudy Mostar. Our first destination was the old Turkish quarter. A place of note is Koskin-Mehmed Pasha’s Mosque. This panorama will allow you the best view of the city’s main sight; the Stari Most (or Old Bridge). Originally built in the 16. Century to link the two sides of the city together, it stands majestically across Bosnia’s Neretva River. Once described aptly as. Ivo said over a beer.

Where have you been? Liban Quarry, Kraków, Poland. June 19, 2012. One of the eeriest and forgotten places in Kraków. The Liban Quarry should first and foremost be a place of remembrance for the victims of the Nazi labour camp that created here during Kraków’s WWII. Occupation. Later, the looming rusting towers were built here as part of Spielberg’s recreation of the Płaszów concentration camp in the film “ Schindler’s List. 8221; to lie dormant amongst the overgrown abandon that permeates there today.

Where have you been? Medyka-Shehyni, Polish-Ukrainian Border Crossing. April 7, 2012. Due to the city’s proximity to the border (It’s about 12km or 7 miles), we decided to catch a bus to the crossing. We were informed that the bus station was found next to the train station by an underpass. The Border Buses are located here. Holes were cut out of the backs of headrests and even the seat itself. Small plastic bags were stuffed into them; like the ones you see in Airports- punters had obviously tried t...

Where have you been? How to… Plan a cross-country trip in Europe… Part I. August 13, 2013. A lot of times, people fly to only one country and never think to cross that nearby border or realise how close countries can be in Europe. I feel that this is a shame, especially with the continent having such diversity and cultural differences in the space of a couple of miles. Public transport in Europe. Look how many different countries there are! For purchasing these passes. Where do you start? When you’...

This Is Where I Stand. Feet grounded, eyes open, grateful to be me. May 28, 2015. May 28, 2015. I need to vent. Forgive me. I’m tired. It’s been a season of pouring out. Pouring myself into my work, my children, and so many people in my wider circle who are in need of love and care. I feel strong and also really worn out, both at the same time. That’s how it’s been.
