Miss Cody's Math World: July 2012
http://bcmathworld.blogspot.com/2012_07_01_archive.html
Miss Cody's Math World. Tuesday, July 31, 2012. My Decision to Go From Rows to Desks. This is a big year for me. It's my third year as a teacher, so I figured it's the last year I can claim being a Newbie. This means I might as well take a big leap and change some things up - if I fail miserbly then at least I can say it was while I was still a new teacher. Okay so the reasons behind this decision:. As they would if I moved them into class for just one class period. I don't necessarily need my desks in r...

Miss Cody's Math World: Virginia History in Coordinates
http://bcmathworld.blogspot.com/2012/08/virginia-history-in-coordinates.html
Miss Cody's Math World. Saturday, August 11, 2012. Virginia History in Coordinates. My kids have already studied the Civil War and Virginia History by the time they get to the 8th grade, but I think it still interests them. I say I think because they don't really talk about it, but they wear a lot of Confederate flags and there's still a "South will rise again" mentality. I would take a map like this:. From Almost Chosen People. And it would look something like that. I would ask them to try to head o...

Miss Cody's Math World: Slope Book Project
http://bcmathworld.blogspot.com/2012/12/slope-book-project.html
Miss Cody's Math World. Thursday, December 20, 2012. My students have a project due every grading period. For us, this means every six weeks. They range in difficulty and almost always involve something we're working on. I'll share more on all of the projects, eventually. The first project is always My Math Future. Generally they have to pick a career and figure out how math is used, among other things. What I'm sharing with you today is the project on slope. I. Here is an example. Miss Cody's Math World.

Miss Cody's Math World: What to do after THE TEST
http://bcmathworld.blogspot.com/2014/06/what-to-do-after-test.html
Miss Cody's Math World. Friday, June 20, 2014. What to do after THE TEST. Here in Virginia, we call our standards tests SOL Tests:. It is supposed to stand for Standards of Learning, but - you know. Logic Puzzles - A lot of the students enjoy these puzzles, which they see as "not math." Oh, if only they knew how important logic is, not just in math but in life in general. Ha! The cool thing is my students often come back asking for more puzzles. Graph Pictures - We've all done these. Style pictures where...

Miss Cody's Math World: My Math Pledge
http://bcmathworld.blogspot.com/2014/01/my-math-pledge.html
Miss Cody's Math World. Tuesday, January 28, 2014. I've never really thought about this before. In algebra, there are so many ways to solve problems. Sn't that supposed to be the beauty of it? Isn't that the focus of new math standards? It is and it is. So why, then, when I give my kids tests, do they include sections such as. Solve each system of equations graphically. And then two problems later. Solve each system of equations using substitution. And THEN (can you guess it? Why, why, why? So I started ...

Det lange hvite huset: Midtuke
http://detlangehvitehuset.blogspot.com/2015/05/midtuke.html

Cute Mormon Chick: Making Progress!
http://cutemormonchick.blogspot.com/2016/04/making-progress.html
Saturday, April 23, 2016. Ok, so I realized it's been over a month since I last updated my blog. Oops! To be honest, I am horrible at keeping a blog and I forget about it half the time. Anyways, I thought I would give everyone an update on how I'm doing! So, I've been doing physical therapy every other week for the past 2 months. I am down to my last two appointments and I'm feeling great! This makes me so happy because I know slowly but surely I'm making progress! Ignore my awkward face, apparently.

Cute Mormon Chick: Holy Moly!
http://cutemormonchick.blogspot.com/2016/01/holy-moly.html
Thursday, January 28, 2016. I haven't updated in almost two years! I'm going to try and update my blog more often. So, I thought I would let everyone know what happened in December and give an update. Once I got home, I relaxed for a little while and then went to our stake's community nativity event. I really didn't feel good and I was completely drugged, but I got to do the one tradition I love the most. I don't even remember much of it to be honest. But the fact I got to go makes me happy. Since they b...
