HSRC Glossary
http://wrhsrc.oregonstate.edu/glossary.htm
This glossary of environmental engineering definitions was put together by the South and Southwest HSRC. At Georgia Institute of Technology. The process in which molecules of a gas or liquid are taken up and incorporated into the physical structure of another solid or liquid. A chemical substance with a pH. Less than 7 on a scale of 0-14. Acids can neutralize bases. And strong acids are corrosive. Any rain, sleet, fog, dew, dust, or other precipitation with a pH. A type of hydrocarbon. The name comes fro...

WRHSRC Outreach Programs
http://wrhsrc.oregonstate.edu/outreach.htm
The WRHSRC included two outreach programs that provided assistance to communities affected by environmental contamination and hazardous waste. Technical Outreach Services for Communities (TOSC). Technical Assistance to Brownfields Communities (TAB). These programs were operated by researchers and technical information specialists. Located at Oregon State University. As of June 30, 2007, the TOSC and TAB programs ceased operations. If you would like to talk to someone about possible TOSC assistance af...

WRHSRC Publications: Annual Reports
http://wrhsrc.oregonstate.edu/publications/reports/index.htm
WRHSRC Publications: Annual Reports. Each year, the Center submits an annual report to the Environmental Protection Agency, the Center's principle granting agency. Reports can be viewed or download in Adobe pdf format. To view these files, you must use an Acrobat viewer such as Acrobat Reader or Acrobat Exchange which can be downloaded free. From Adobe's Web Site. Final Report for WRHSRC I. First annual report for the WRHSRC II under the direction of Lewis Semprini, Oregon State University.).

WRHSRC Research Program: Physical and Chemical Abiotic Processes
http://wrhsrc.oregonstate.edu/projects/abiotic/index.htm
Physical and Chemical Abiotic Processes. The research group associated with abiotic processes addresses chemical reactions for in-situ treatment of CAH contamination and innovative physical removal methods. Center researchers have been actively involved in basic research using palladium catalysis with hydrogen ( Schreier and Reinhard, 1995. Chemical, Physical and Biological Processes at the Surface of Palladium Catalysts under Groundwater Treatment Conditions. Stanford University and John Westall. To ass...

WRHSRC Email Updates
http://wrhsrc.oregonstate.edu/news/listserv.htm
WRHSRC Publications: Email Updates. The WRHSRC has several distribution lists for sending emails about research and outreach activities - as of 2007, these lists are no long active. This list focused on Center research activities and was designed to enhance our communication with environmental professionals and others interested in emerging technologies for hazardous substance cleanup. For example, short summaries of research projects, called Research Briefs. You can also view past update editions.

WRHSRC Research Program: Site Assessment and Characterization
http://wrhsrc.oregonstate.edu/projects/site_char/index.htm
Site Assessment and Characterization. Site characterization focuses on methods for determining in-situ rates of CAH transformation under intrinsic and enhanced remediation conditions. Center investigators have developed the push-pull test method for characterizing rates of in-situ transformation of BTEX compounds ( Istok et al., 1997. Reinhard et al., 1997. And used in other Center research projects. Research is carried out at OSU's Groundwater Research Laboratory. Development of the Push-Pull. Continuou...
