Nome, Home: Gimme a brake
http://nomeak.blogspot.com/2007/07/gimme-brake.html
A news reporter's unofficial take on life in bush Alaska. Someone in Ted Stevens' office. Is looking forward to the August Congressional recess:. 8217;s warning centered around several specific safety features that are missing from the imported Chinese ATVs, including front breaks, parking breaks, and an ability to start the vehicle in gear. Would that be the August break or brake? Yes, I am not exactly perfect in this regard on this blog but I don't get paid for this.). Posted by Jesse Zink.

Nome, Home: Does this surprise anyone?
http://nomeak.blogspot.com/2007/07/does-this-surprise-anyone.html
A news reporter's unofficial take on life in bush Alaska. Does this surprise anyone? Does the news that Don Young is under federal investigation. Come as a surprise to anyone at all? It seems to me that he long ago stopped caring about what Alaskans wanted and opted to use his position as he saw fit. A couple of questions:. Why is the Wall Street Journal, and not say, KTUU. Or Alaska AP, breaking this story? How does this tilt the mental scales that people like Ethan Berkowitz. Posted by Jesse Zink.

Living In The Great Land. Why Did The Bear Cross The Road? Thursday, May 19th, 2005. Long and busy day today. I left Juneau on the fast ferry Fairweather to Skagway, where I hooked up with Alaska Direct Bus Line (call 867-668-4833 in Whitehorse and ask for Henry, it’s literally the only way to go from Skagway to Fairbanks by land) for the trip over the mountain to Whitehorse. Tomorrow it’s on to Fairbanks — a long but very scenic bus ride. Filed under: Alaska Life. Elise Tomlinson, Artist.

Living In The Great Land. Steamer Yukon at Nenana. Saturday, June 18th, 2005. The reason it’s been so quiet here is that a day after getting back to Juneau I came down with a vicious summer cold. I’ve been laying on the couch, drinking mint tea, coughing, and watching two weeks of gorgeous sunny Juneau summer slide by outside my window. Other than forays outside for cold meds and cough drops, I haven’t been anywhere or done anything. And a detail from the same postcard:. Filed under: Alaska History.

Finding room….. | Alaska RV Camping
https://alaskarvcamping.wordpress.com/2007/08/22/finding-room
Camping Adventures in Alaska. South Rolly Lake Campground. August 22, 2007. Well, the camper has been in the shop now for about a week….waiting for the elusive “part” to come in. That’s ok I guess since it was back to work for me last week, and today the kids went back to school. So during our travels I typically knit or work on beading. I particularly enjoy working on the heart pendants made of Swarovski crystals, or any type of wire wrapped pendants. Here are some pictures. Posted in hobbies and camping.

Camping Adventures in Alaska. South Rolly Lake Campground. August 11, 2007. Williwaw, 2nd attempt. We decided to head down to Williwaw Campground at Portage Glacier again since the weather was great. Got to Portage around 11 pm only to find the campground at Williwaw full. Posted in RV camping. Williwaw Campground, Portage Glacier area. Laquo; Giant Mutant Vegetables. Subscri...

Enjoying the views | Alaska RV Camping

Camping Adventures in Alaska. South Rolly Lake Campground. August 13, 2007. If you enjoy looking at glaciers, then the Portage Valley area is one place to put on your list. It is about a 45 minute drive south from Anchorage—along one of the prettiest roads in the state. If the weather is clear you will be awed by the vistas…. Here I am just outside the Begich Boggs Visitor Center. Wearing my Fairbanks Fire Department. T-shirt. My first job was as an occupational therapist. Leave a Reply Cancel reply.

Weekend at Eklutna | Alaska RV Camping
https://alaskarvcamping.wordpress.com/2007/09/03/weekend-at-eklutna
Camping Adventures in Alaska. South Rolly Lake Campground. September 3, 2007. 14 hours 9 minutes of daylight. Eklutna has some nice hiking opportunities, and we hiked up (and I do mean UP—oh my aching legs! The Twin Peaks trail. It took us an hour and 40 minutes to hike up, partially since we were busy picking berries along the way. The trail is steep in places so frequent stops were a good thing. Too bad it was cloudy and when we got to the top there wasn’t much of a view to enjoy. Subscribe to RSS Feed.
