Two Cent Sparrow: this week in the studio
http://twocentsparrow.blogspot.com/2015/04/this-week-in-studio.html
Tuesday, April 7, 2015. This week in the studio. The images below are examples of three new challenges I've taken on lately:. The first image is of a new jewellery line, which is rooted in a new pottery line. It's challenging because so many people make jewellery and I really wanted something that wasn't like what was out there. I wanted something interesting and eye-catching and not. I've been trying to move away from cute. As of right now, Craft Arts Market. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).
Two Cent Sparrow: January 2015
http://twocentsparrow.blogspot.com/2015_01_01_archive.html
Friday, January 30, 2015. Those who fear the imagination condemn it: something childish, they say, something monsterish, misbegotten. Not all of us dream awake. But those who do have no choice. - Patricia A. McKillip. This setting was a very safe one for me and there is thankfulness for that in my heart that I carry with me everywhere. I grew up protected by my family – grandparents, aunts, uncles, great. You can probably sense where this is going. She’s too young to cut herself off from her loved ...
Two Cent Sparrow: May 2015

Sunday, May 17, 2015. Here's a secret: I hate glazing. Wow, I feel so much better getting that out in the open. Why do I hate it? Because it's all business. Glazing is the most uncreative part of my process. One that goes like this:. Stir Dip. Wipe. Repeat. It also makes a huge mess. This is what a normal glazing day looks like:. 1 Unload bisque ware from the kiln. 2 Sand off imperfections. 3 Wash the bisqued pots. 4 Wax the bottoms. 5 While the wax dries, stir buckets of glaze and get tools ready. I'm a...
Two Cent Sparrow: April 2015
http://twocentsparrow.blogspot.com/2015_04_01_archive.html
Thursday, April 16, 2015. In the midst of working on orders, I've been designing a new line of pots. As I've mentioned before, the inspiration behind these actually comes out of a story I started writing about four years ago. The illustrations are based on two secondary characters, Ravi and Sable, who are known as shiftlings. Creatures that dwell in the woods. In this world of theirs, shiftlings. Ravi can't bet higher than a life and therefore can't free his friend. He never gets over this and spends...

Sehnsucht Geweiht: May 2012
http://meinstreit.blogspot.com/2012_05_01_archive.html
Saturday, 26 May 2012. Not so much the pleasing of men. That they might later be our pleasure,. Or not so much witting ourselves lone out of the pen. To enjoy alone the freedom of the pasture,. Not so much the storing up of ken. To set ourselves over all men as their pastor. But more the moment when I slip your glasses off,. Quietly, because you are sleeping. Let us regard…. Not so much the pursuit of success. Or the superlative of style,. Not so much the refining of our resume. And its slogan to beguile.
Sehnsucht Geweiht: February 2012
http://meinstreit.blogspot.com/2012_02_01_archive.html
Tuesday, 28 February 2012. Last week I did something I swore I would never do, I bought a Kobo e-reader. Knee Jerk Conservative Fears. How many stores have to offer more and more variety, so that one can do more and more in a single location? The idea of a personal library accessible on-the-go is in this vein. He's got the whole world in His hands. He's got the whole wide world in his hands. The world today is actually in our. Now it gives me more pause. E-books, E-missals, E-Bibles, E-Sacraments? One re...
Sehnsucht Geweiht: Here and Now
http://meinstreit.blogspot.com/2012/05/here-and-now.html
Monday, 21 May 2012. It was a beautiful Victoria Day long weekend, with ample time for reflection and soaking up the sunlight. Also, I found this:. I took a day to search for God,. And found Him not. But as I trod. By rocky ledge, through woods untamed,. Just where one scarlet lily flamed,. I saw his footprint in the sod. Then suddenly, all unaware,. Far off in the deep shadows, where. A solitary hermit thrush. Sang through the holy twilight hush-. I heard His voice upon the air. Jordan st. francis.
meet me under the willow tree: My Jack is back
http://www.meetmeunderthewillowtree.com/2012/02/my-jack-is-back.html
Monday, February 27, 2012. My Jack is back. Today my Jack came back. Later, I was sitting on the couch with Joey and glanced over at my bookshelf. I was reminded of something that I had read the week I found out I was pregnant with Joey. It was from a book by Henri Nouwen entitled 'Reaching Out' and there was a small section on being hospitable towards children that I promised I would never forget:. What should we have done to prevent this behavoiur? What gifts does he have to offer? I LOVE this. Pro...
meet me under the willow tree: like the crowds
http://www.meetmeunderthewillowtree.com/2012/04/like-crowds.html
Sunday, April 1, 2012. Like the crowds,. We come with all our hopes and fears,. Our almost forgotten dreams,. To catch a glimpse of you. Like the crowds,. With our heads lifted high,. There's a bit of blue sky. Could you be the one. We've been waiting for? Like the crowds,. We sense your presence. And feel your eyes on us. And lay down our desires. In hopes you'll be the one. Like the crowds,. We rejoice in who. We hope you will be. And our faith creates a path. A place for you to move.

Sehnsucht Geweiht: June 2012
http://meinstreit.blogspot.com/2012_06_01_archive.html
Sunday, 24 June 2012. About two weeks ago, I was passing through Dundas Square in downtown Toronto while a concert was going on. There were a lot of people there and I could hear the loud punk- rock music, the cries of the crowd, and whatnot. But what really struck me was that, elevated high above the stage overlooking the square, was the image of a cross with a line through it, crossing it out. What does this say, that we are so willing to deride the deeply loved symbol of one group, but not many others?
Sehnsucht Geweiht: Springtime on the Farm
http://meinstreit.blogspot.com/2012/06/springtime-on-farm.html
Thursday, 21 June 2012. Springtime on the Farm. Springtime on the farm. Tousles the tall grass so far spared. The mower's shears, and southward shares. A hint of cherries about to be. The church brick warms. A blue bird goes,. Skirts the houses, scared. The shot gun's appeared. All feather bullet-seared,. He'll rest on the pear tree. An unleashed dog crossing property lines. Yes, he does know. He slips past the pond,. Scatters the bull frogs' songs. And the mayflies' smoky throngs,. An old lady waves.
Sehnsucht Geweiht: The Lord's Supper
http://meinstreit.blogspot.com/2012/06/lords-supper.html
Saturday, 16 June 2012. Grant me, O Lord, admittance to your eternal banquet.". This is just a small invocation that I've been praying lately, throughout the day or at the conclusion of prayers. I thought I'd share it with you. Lately, I've been coming to appreciate more and more the social dimension of Catholic Christian belief. In one sense, the nostalgia for a Christendom is not entirely. If ever you've treasured sitting with your family around the table, laughing and drinking wine and reminiscing or ...

Two cents’ Weblog. Just another WordPress.com weblog. Ambient light detector : circuit from 20 years back. Bull;August 9, 2015 • Leave a Comment. This weekend, I dug up some of the old prototype circuit boards that I have done during my school days. This was about 20 years ago. I wonder whether it still works. The image below shows a ambient light detector which will turn on the red LED when it is dark. To my amazement, it still works. Checking IO statistics in Linux. Sar (more like a stats logger).

Mother Effin' Truth Blog. Tuesday, June 23, 2015. Friends, I'm really excited to share that I had an opportunity recently to guest post for The Mother Effin Truth Blog. I had such a good time putting my story into words. I hope you'll enjoy it. Monday, June 22, 2015. This was a major blow. I had asked Him to...
