Saturday, October 28, 2006. Was the traffic not great when the Taxis in South Africa went on strike on Friday? I have a wonderful idea: The government should ignore them flat. Hopefully this will put the Taxis on a permanent strike. This will result in a wonderful traffic flow every day! We will not have to worry about taxis skipping the red lights as there will be no Taxis! Nobody to rush past you in the emergency lane - but emergency vehicles - because there will be no Taxis! And I loved every minute.

Taxis with no rules - or is it maybe an unwritten set of rules that only applies to Taxis? Their rule book goes something like this:. If the traffic light goes red - go like hell - you will still make it and the other road users will wait for you out of respect. Blow your horn as far as you go - it makes a nice sound and people do not need quiet - your passengers are more important.
