For more than a decade, Rev. Otto Duncan, was a vital and active member of the Paris, TN community. In December 2005, he announced plans to return to New Orleans to pastor his home church, which was hard hit by flooding. He also issued an invitation for help - the VIM team answered. Ten members of the Roanoke District representing four churches (Fairview, Grace, Andrew Chapel and Northview) traveled 4 hours north the week of July 23-29 to Keyser, West Virginia. We went to lend a hand to the Helping Hands of the Potomac Highlands organization. Sunday, March 05, 2006. Spanish Immersion Team to Guatemala - Nov. 11-26, 2006. The annual UMVIM Spanish Language Immersion team will be returning to Guatemala Nov. 11-26. The team will be studying Spanish in Xela at the Sakribal language school, staying in a Guatemalan home, and using the new language skills in interaction with the local church and community. I did my first dental mission to Belize in 1990. Monday, July 10, 2006. St James AME Church in New Orleans. Historic St. James amE. Church is located in the Treme' District just west of downtown New Orleans, Louisiana. The church was founded in the 1840's by free men and women of color. The church is located at 222 North Roman Street, New Orleans, Louisiana, 70112. A priority need for St. James AME is to have 1-2 teams come during late summer or early fall of 2006 to refinish the remaining pews so that the sanctuary can be rehabilitated for worship.

Saturday, May 13, 2006. Bay St. Louis in slow recovery. The area around Bay St. Louis is recovering slowly. There were many more. Businesses open now than in December. Many of the homes that can't be. Repaired have been demo-ed and the debris has been removed. Debris still. Remains along the curb on many streets and their are homes that haven't. Been mucked yet.
