The Doudna Kids: 2013-03-17
http://doudna-doings.blogspot.com/2013_03_17_archive.html
Life has changed for the Doudna kids, but it goes on. Here's how it went until about 2013. Friday, March 22, 2013. Gabriel has taken on this awful habit of "meowing" all the time. He enters a room and makes a high-pitched "meow" sound, answers questions with it, responds to requests with it, and just does it constantly. Gabriel has a long history of annoying his class with constant, repetitive, inappropriate sounds. In kindergarten, it was "POP goes the weasel! Ironically, the real. Meow-makers are far f...

Life has changed for the Doudna kids, but it goes on. Here's how it went until about 2013. Saturday, January 26, 2013. Wow, I'm horribly behind in my annual calendars. SOME friends take care of this in early December, anticipating the end of the year and all (because, what, the end of the year is a SURPRISE? But No, I have to wait until the end of January to finally get my rear end in gear to do my annual "Doudna Kids" calendars. I hate being late with calendars. I have a very sweet uncle who gets co...

Food For Five: July 2008
http://food4five.blogspot.com/2008_07_01_archive.html
Tuesday, July 22, 2008. For A's 4th birthday, he wanted a rocket cake. It was easy to find all different kinds of cakes on the internet, but after going to Michael's I settled on this cake. Which needed a football shaped pan (so now I am set for all those Super Bowl parties). Now, onto the buttercream. I ended up using an Italian Meringue Buttercream. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). I love to cook and read about cooking though I don't cook as much as I used to now that I have three kids. So this blog is ...

Food For Five: December 2009
http://food4five.blogspot.com/2009_12_01_archive.html
Sunday, December 27, 2009. I used a recipe from alpineberry. But I also included a half cup of creme fraiche to mimic a French lemon tart that is also very good. I cut them up into small squares and arranged them on a fancy plate. Along with a plate of gingerbread cookies, they disappeared. I was just going back to take a picture of the last two when I realized that they were all gone! Or almost all gone. Gina hadn't quite finished the last one. Makes one 8-inch square pan). 1 cup all purpose flour.

Life has changed for the Doudna kids, but it goes on. Here's how it went until about 2013. Saturday, February 02, 2013. 2/2/13 Squaw 2: Lesson Day. Unfortunately, my friend's plans had a twist when her daughter was seriously injured yesterday, and the whole family packed up and zoomed to a hospital about 2 hours away. Fortunately, the girl's surgery went well today, and she's expected to make a full recovery. The family's trip was cut short, but my plans were cast in stone, so I just went with it. To spo...

Food For Five: August 2008
http://food4five.blogspot.com/2008_08_01_archive.html
Sunday, August 31, 2008. Chocolate Eclairs from the Daring Bakers. This months Daring Bakers challenge was to make Chocolate Eclairs. It was hosted by Meetak. From What's for Lunch Honey and Tony Tahhan. I had great plans of making the eclairs with a non-chocolate filling and adding in some fresh fruit like bananas, but then the weekend got away from me and I only had time to make the recipe as given. I had never made pastry cream before, but it turned out very well. Since the recipe uses cornstarch,...

Food For Five: January 2008

Monday, January 28, 2008. This month's Daring Bakers Challenge. Was to make Lemon Meringue Pie. I was excited to try this recipe since it was my favorite dessert when I was growing up. I think I have made one or two in the past but it has been a LONG time. It is definitely lemon season around here. I have a basket full of lemons from our lemon tree and several bags of Meyer lemons that friends have given me. I love using Meyer lemons; they are a little sweeter and very juicy.
