Matt's Blog: April 2006
http://matthelliwell.blogspot.com/2006_04_01_archive.html
Sunday, April 30, 2006. While Val was at Reading beer festival getting very drunk, I went around to Sue's. Not too surprisingly for the Old Dean, some scrot had set fire to the woods at the back of the house. Sue was convinced her house was going to burn down so she called the fire brigade. No tree were damaged in the taking of the photograph, though a bit of the undergrowth got burnt! Posted by Matt Helliwell @ 9:36 pm 0 comments. Wednesday, April 26, 2006. Matt's Blog: Controversy at St Michael's
http://matthelliwell.blogspot.com/2012/07/trouble-at-st-michaels.html
Sunday, July 22, 2012. Controversy at St Michael's. A entry was posted on the Camberley Society blog. About the St Michael's renewal project. Clearly some people are unhappy with the plans. I've put a suitably phrased comment on the blog itself but:. The post purports to represent views of "many associated with St Michael’s church". If this really was written by someone in the church then why would they post it anonymously and on an external website? Or 1 Peter 2:13. Posted by Matt Helliwell @ 7:18 pm.

Matt's Blog: February 2006
http://matthelliwell.blogspot.com/2006_02_01_archive.html
Tuesday, February 28, 2006. I now have knobbly tyres on the bike! Dunlop D908 on the back and D907 on the front. So much better off road. On road handling is very novel though - it feels plain weird trying to get it to lean over at all. It's like the tyre consists of three flat surfaces - upright, leant over a bit, leant over a bit more. I guess that's knobbly tyres for you. No doubt I'll get used to it and it will smooth out as they wear a bit. Posted by Matt Helliwell @ 6:34 pm 0 comments. If I have an...

Matt's Blog: Do you trust your councillor?
http://matthelliwell.blogspot.com/2010/04/do-you-trust-your-councillor.html
Wednesday, April 28, 2010. Do you trust your councillor? I'm not sure I trust my councillors which is why I've voted to have an elected mayor. If the councillors can appoint who they like as mayor then there will be even less independent oversight of them. Either way you can have your vote here: http:/ www.surreyheath.gov.uk/survey/decisionmaking.htm. I notice the choices are "strong leader" or "elected mayor" like someone who is elected can't also be a strong leader. Posted by Matt Helliwell @ 8:02 pm.

Matt's Blog: Camberley Mosque Appeal
http://matthelliwell.blogspot.com/2011/01/camberley-mosque-appeal.html
Sunday, January 30, 2011. The Camberley Mosque debacle is slowly lumbering towards its appeal on April 4th. The Camberley News has an interesting comment on the article. About it where they state that Bengali Welfare Association are paying about 80K per day on legal advise for the appeal. I've had independent verification that that amount is accurate. My guess would be that the money is coming from Saudi Arabia, it certainly wouldn't be the first time this has happened, eg see these comments. Hope that t...

Matt's Blog: Websites
http://matthelliwell.blogspot.com/2012/04/websites.html
Sunday, April 29, 2012. I see to have become the local webmaster for St Michael's Church Camberley. Look at the website and be amazed at my Drupal skills. The Viscar is off doing a sponsored walk to raise funds for the renewal of the building so I've now done a second site: http:/ www.stmikesopen4all.org.uk/. Posted by Matt Helliwell @ 4:46 pm. Matt's Blog: May 2006
http://matthelliwell.blogspot.com/2006_05_01_archive.html
Wednesday, May 10, 2006. Busy, busy, busy. Another busy Wednesday not at work. Wanted to try out the new bread maker this morning so went into Camberley to buy flower and yeast. I can report it works just fine. Bit of a bargain as well, only 20 quid for Lidl and comes with a three year guarantee. I then cycled to Farnborough to meet Will at the gym The cycle home was a bit slow though. Tried to visit Sue but she was out. I ask you, what's a single parent doing going out when I want to come around? Came a...

Matt's Blog: We won!
http://matthelliwell.blogspot.com/2010/03/we-won.html
Thursday, March 11, 2010. I think we won in the end because we focused on the planning issues. When the other side spoke, most of them talked about their needs for a suitable place to pray and meet. No-one was denying that. What they failed to do was justify why it had to be on that site with that particular design. We had Taj Hargey. The evening took at nasty turn at the end when someone threatening to kill Dr Hargey and he had to have a police escort away from the venue. It was quite funny listening to...

Matt's Blog: Local Elections
http://matthelliwell.blogspot.com/2011/05/local-elections.html
Tuesday, May 10, 2011. Sue stood as a Labour candidate for St Michaels (Camberley) in the recent elections. She didn't win but she did have some concerns about the behaviour of some of tellers at the polling booths - nothing earth shattering, just things like the large number of Tory tellers at some polling stations, Tory literature at the polling station etc. So off she went today to discuss her concerns with the returning officer. Posted by Matt Helliwell @ 8:54 pm. Bloody hell Matt, for the first time...
