Esophagossip: December 2006

Documenting a battle with "The Beast" - Esophageal Cancer. Friday, December 15, 2006. I'm Developing an Inner Awareness. I've been emailing my ologist at intervals, so I asked if I could come in for a professional dilation, only this time I'd like to stay awake for the procedure so I could get a feel for how hard I should push. "Sure", he responded. I'm not sure if emails can have a sort if incredulous tone of voice, but this one certainly seemed to. That's not right.". View my complete profile.

http://esophagossip.blogspot.com/2006_06_01_archive.html
Documenting a battle with "The Beast" - Esophageal Cancer. Tuesday, June 27, 2006. So my last chemo was just a full infusion of the cisplatin drug without the CPT11 frosting on top. Was the main repeating thought of the week. I also had a giant case of the munchies all week in fact I put on a few pounds. Hhmm. Can’t concentrate. Giant munchie frenzy. Surely this stuff can’t be related to No, of course not. Whatever am I thinking? Sound a bit whiney, don’t I? It’s looking really very good at the moment.

Esophagossip: August 2006
http://esophagossip.blogspot.com/2006_08_01_archive.html
Documenting a battle with "The Beast" - Esophageal Cancer. Wednesday, August 30, 2006. This will be the last post to the blog, for a while anyway. I will leave the blog itself open and public, but stop updating it. I assume that soon I will move on to the general post-cancer screening process three-monthly checks for a while, then six-monthly, then yearly. So perhaps I will issue an update with each check-up just to share my progress. Lastly, 38 years ago, I was lucky enough to meet and marry a young inn...

Documenting a battle with "The Beast" - Esophageal Cancer. Wednesday, April 25, 2007. Life is good" - Phrase on a rather large t-shirt. But it’s a year ago today. How about that? What a year it’s been. I’ve been poisoned, burned, and cut. I’ve seen chemically-induced birds fly around the intensive care room. I’ve stood naked in the bathroom while two very attractive young nurses washed me from head to toe. Every man’s fantasy, right? I’m slim. You cannot imagine how happy I am at losing all the weigh...

Documenting a battle with "The Beast" - Esophageal Cancer. Sunday, February 18, 2007. I met Ned again last week. You know, the old farmer dude that I met three months ago when I had my post-op checkup to see if the beast was really dead. Let me tell you about it. A two hour wait then to see the oncologist the surgeon cancelled his appointment as he is out of town on business . In Cancun. Yeah, right. Ned , says I, you can stay as long as you like. Documenting a battle with "The Beast" - Esophageal Cancer. Saturday, September 30, 2006. Beth Israel Hospital Your Dilation Station. Only two days now till I’m back at work. Work? Posted by The Beastmaster @ 8:46 AM. Thursday, September 14, 2006. It’s been five weeks since the operation. My recovery is actually going very well indeed, although it seems very slow to me on a day to day basis. Talking of day to day, how about that day time TV? I only recently came off the heavy pain-killers, so I’m now able...

Documenting a battle with "The Beast" - Esophageal Cancer. Wednesday, May 31, 2006. I've had a few complaints! Ruminations is the title of this post - a series of disconnected jottings. Actually the title is very apt given that for a couple of days while in hospital I was actually being fed through the new tube. So the food was steadily going in without any particular effort on my part and I was making like a cow, digesting and having lots of time to think. Ruminating, geddit? So now I have a short term ...

Documenting a battle with "The Beast" - Esophageal Cancer. Monday, March 26, 2007. What better time to write a blog entry when bored out of ones skull at thirty-something thousand feet over the mid-west USA? I’m off with a work colleague to Los Angeles to a conference on software user assistance. I’m only just back from twelve days in the UK on vacation visiting family so I’m racking up the air miles this month. Not getting a great deal of work done though. So how am I? So here I am now, still at thirty-...
