McAllister Party of Five: November 2014
http://johnandkarisa.blogspot.com/2014_11_01_archive.html
November 21, 2014. John is home SO MUCH MORE now than during the last 8 years of med school and residency. (Cue the chorus of angels! He works about 50 hours per week now, which is glorious after the 80-hour work weeks we're accustomed to. I feel like we're not just surviving life anymore. John has the time and energy for hobbies, and it's such a luxury having him around more to raise the boys with me. I will never take that for granted. John likes to take the boys out for bike rides. November 5, 2014.

McAllister Party of Five: October 2014
http://johnandkarisa.blogspot.com/2014_10_01_archive.html
October 1, 2014. The World According to Cole. ME: What was your job in preschool today? COLE: Handing out the napkins. ME: Oh, good. COLE: But I accidentally destroyed them and rolled them all into an enormous ball. COLE: "If you have black hair, you're probably from India or China.". An interesting commentary on the demographics of our neighborhood and Cole's preschool]. COLE: "I'm not sure why, but my teacher always has a big purple line on top of her eyes.". Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). The boys love it.

McAllister Party of Five: March 2014
http://johnandkarisa.blogspot.com/2014_03_01_archive.html
March 26, 2014. Last weekend we hit the road for Nebraska to visit John's brother Paul, his wife Stacy, and their 5 kids. Of the 16 hours we spent together in the car (8 each way), the first 13 were relaxing and enjoyable. Ask Mr. Christian to explain what happened during the final 3! That's okay, we still love him. Someday he'll embrace traveling.). Here are some of the Gertsch and McAllister kiddos after lunch. This is the sort of thing I'm deprived of. You can select up to 7 things at a time. They...

McAllister Party of Five: August 2014
http://johnandkarisa.blogspot.com/2014_08_01_archive.html
August 22, 2014. The best thing about DC. The #1 best thing about Washington DC. The complimentary bread at Sweetwater Tavern. The national knick-knacks everywhere you turn. Is living close to cousins! All of the Babbels are on the east coast- either in Connecticut, Pennsylvania, and Virginia- so it's pretty easy to meet up. And in the last 7 weeks since moving here, we've been racking up the cousin time like it's going out of style. They'll be sick of us soon, no doubt. Here's Chase, Josephine, and Bens...

McAllister Party of Five: January 2015
http://johnandkarisa.blogspot.com/2015_01_01_archive.html
January 27, 2015. After one particular exasperating day when the boys were extra hyper and whole-heartedly bouncing off the walls (the walls we share with next-door neighbors), I enrolled all three of them in gymnastics, where they're supposed. The Little Gym just had their mid-season showcase. Here are some pictures of the new tricks our boys are learning. I'll start with the cutest and work my way up! Class: The Little Birds. Chin-ups with a smile. Class: The Cracker Jacks. And golf and hockey. KARISA:...

McAllister Party of Five: Birthday Blitz
http://johnandkarisa.blogspot.com/2015/06/birthday-boys.html
June 25, 2015. The end of April for us is always expensive, exultant, and exhausting! That's when we celebrate the old 1-2-3 Birthday punch. First, BENSON turned 7. Instead of a party this year, Benson got to choose a special outing. He decided to spend the afternoon floating along the Potomac, bellowing like a pirate and walking the gangplank. We capped off the evening with a round of The Farmer in the Dell and London Bridges. Next, JOHN turned 33. John's co-workers were delighted to help him celebrate!

McAllister Party of Five: A haunted family reunion
http://johnandkarisa.blogspot.com/2015/07/a-haunted-family-reunion.html
July 26, 2015. A haunted family reunion. This past June, John arranged for a week off work and we all flew 2,100 miles to this lovely campus in Albion, Idaho, the site of our week-long family reunion. The boys and I were the first in the entire. Extended family to arrive, and for a few anxious hours we were convinced we had fallen victim to a very elaborate practical joke. The boys had a lot of fun with their 2nd cousins. Bump, set, spike WIN! The family VB tournament was a blast. Only two people acciden...

McAllister Party of Five: September 2014
http://johnandkarisa.blogspot.com/2014_09_01_archive.html
September 24, 2014. The first day of school went by without a hitch. Well, hardly a hitch. Our big first grader! Cole chilled out after he met his preschool teacher, Mrs. Gallagah. (Gallagher.) She exudes love for the kids, and also teaches them cool tricks, like how to cut. Cole now walks into Stepping Stones Academy everyday of his own accord, and when I pick him up later he's bubbling over with exciting things to tell me, so I'd call that success. And a few other things.) She's such a cool cousin.

McAllister Party of Five: February 2015
http://johnandkarisa.blogspot.com/2015_02_01_archive.html
February 9, 2015. I celebrated birthday #33 (! With these fine folks down in Richmond. Chelsey and I were born 2 days apart, so we celebrate our birthdays together pretty often. Our rendezvous point this year was at Joy's house, and she threw an awesome party for us. During the party, we did 8 different "Minute to Win It" games, including one where we caught dozens of marshmallows in our mouths in a race against the clock. Here's the proper marshmallow-catching stance. I got my wish this year! They had s...
