The Wandering Printmaker

Tuesday, September 20, 2011. I've stumbled on a few printmakers, who, while studying (I assume), decided to make copies of Rembrandt's work. Copied by Reverend Richard Byron. The one born in 1724). The Adoration of the Shepherds. By Ernst Gottlob (Who was alive from 1744-1789 and active at the Leipzig academy according to the grove encyclopedia and may also have been a pastellist). I wonder if we could create a show of the complete Rembrandt catalog just with his imitators? BTW, I found both in Philly.

The Wandering Printmaker: It's 2011?

http://wanderingprintmaker.blogspot.com/2011/01/its-2011.html

Monday, January 17, 2011. There aren't movies made about dates after 2010, so we must live in the future. (except 2012, which I refuse to accept as a movie at all. Good lord.). Also at the Danforth. At the MFA Boston. (Feel free to click on the picture, it's a detail of a work by Xu Bing. He made a print out of a traditional painted scroll.). Evolution: Five Decades of Printmaking. By David Driskell, Part 1 at the Wadsworth Atheneum. At the Newport Art Museum. Series is at the Worcester Art Museum.

The Wandering Printmaker: November 2010

http://wanderingprintmaker.blogspot.com/2010_11_01_archive.html

Monday, November 8, 2010. Today, the EFA. Is the overlord of Bob Blackburn's studio. During Print Week, I stopped by for an opening there. Naturally, there were some excellent works up in the Members show. They also had up All We Ever Wanted was Everything. Which was 9 piles of posters that you could take copies of. One of Justin Sanz. S monoprints. They make me like monoprints. No idea who made this, but it's pretty good. Labels: Print Fair 2010. No World, Screen Prints from a Midwest Wasteland. A quick...

The Wandering Printmaker: MFA

http://wanderingprintmaker.blogspot.com/2011/02/mfa.html

Thursday, February 17, 2011. Been writing a review of the new Americas Wing at the MFA Boston for arts fuse. While I was there, I took a few snaps for y'all. Is that Mary Cassatt's Letter print and the actual desk that she owned? Why yes it is! Asher Brown Durand's Ariadne (OG Painting. Isn't it nice that the general museum goer gets to see different states? Something for the nerds that educates the general public to our processes is good by me. The Oath of the Horatii. And other classics from each era.

Wednesday, August 31, 2011. Jebus I've been busy. I express my regret for ignoring this blog. I've been so. damn. busy. and writing here (IE. for free) on top of writing full time (IE. for $ $) hasn't been an option. (ps. printeresting isn't for $ $. Just to be clear, I do it for the love.). Europe at Mid-Century: Dubuffet, Giacometti, Picasso. And Passion and Precision in the Age of Revolution. At the MFA Boston. And Sylvia Plimack Mangold, Ursula von Rydingsvard and Kiki Smith. Root Around: Jed Perl is right!?

http://rootaround.blogspot.com/2012/02/jed-perl-is-right.html

Explorations in music and contemporary art. Jed Perl is right! Just a quick note about my current thoughts on the differences between editors and curators. I've got a long standing hate for everything on the web being 'curated' when I feel it's been edited. Seems trifling, but I think it's a symptom of the web being 'visual' to people (I'm delivering pictures of shoes I want, therefore I'm a curator) rather than verbal. It's publicly adding original information to an existing body of work. So on to Perl.

Explorations in music and contemporary art. How one might read modern art. Everyone who might be slightly interested in Museums and/or art exhibitions has to watch the first 5ish minutes of this talk. Lowry is laying out a seriously important changes that are going on at the MoMA. Ann Temkin spoke at Harvard last month. And echoed these sentiments from her perspective as chief curator. And kids coming off their school buses are the M-F daytime shift of art goers was what else I found out today! PS I just...

Weeks It's nice to be back in my own bed, with my own pillows, and I should be able to stop living out of a suitcase as soon as I unpack. I've missed my family, though I'm really going to miss all of the people that I had to say goodbye to. Here are some highlights from my trip:. Google Now no longer working on MotoX Fixed! Published December 31, 2013. My new MotoX Google Now feature stopped working, seemingly all of a sudden. I scoured the net with no real answer. There were plenty of posts indicating that others were having the same issue I was but none of the solutions worked across the board. So, I backed up my apps and settings. Reset my phone. Touchless control worked again. Until…. Newer Posts →. Google Now no longer working on MotoX Fixed!

Pondering through the days, voraciously. Thoughts, images…. Down The River (A Crossroads Story). January 3, 2017. Down The River (A Crossroads Story). By Sean Alexander Luciw. As the speeding car approached, a few more clouds seemed to gather around the moon, like some grey scarf. The looming headlamps possessed an unusually reddish hue. Is that a Duesenberg? Well I’ll be… I guess this guy does mean business after all! The engine stopped and the suicide door opened. A tall man stepped out of the car,...
