Phil Dobson studied architecture before moving to Fine Art and History of Art at Reading University. His work has and still occasionally refers to architectural processes but also an interest in images derived from science and technology. The work is more heuristic than expressionistic. In recent work I have been using a plethora of techniques and materials to make paintings, drawings, sculpture and installations. The sculptures and installations fuse the natural such as stone, wood and shell with the manmade and often kitsch elements of plastic, ornaments and beads.
