Jess explores web 2.0

Friday, April 11, 2008. Last year, there was no technology in my classroom. The closest any kids came to a computer was one little boy I had take an online colour blindness test on the computer on my desk. Pretty sad considering my self-professed love of technology, but quite simply, I couldn't figure out. To integrate technology into my early childhood classes with just one computer in the room. And honestly, even if I had a couple extra machines, would I have done anything besides load some games?

Jess explores web 2.0: February 2008

http://www.weelittlejess.blogspot.com/2008_02_01_archive.html

Sunday, February 24, 2008. A few more thoughts. Wait a minute. All I've done is add an audio component to my blog and called it a podcast. That's not the point! Building a better podcast. In this January's T.H.E. journal, I realized I fell into one of the most common traps of poor podcasting. Just sitting in front of a microphone and rambling on about a random subject. Villano. Argues that organization is key to podcasts. Has a lot of great suggestions for improving the quality of student podcasts. We'd ...

Jess explores web 2.0: Social Networking: Friend or Foe?

http://www.weelittlejess.blogspot.com/2008/03/social-networking-friend-or-foe.html

Saturday, March 29, 2008. Social Networking: Friend or Foe? I've been on Facebook. For about 8 months now. I joined up at the behest of my brother, since he said it was a great way to share pictures, something very important with a brand new baby around! As a picture sharing site, I loved it! A couple of months ago, an item popped up in my news feed: I had been tagged in someone else's. Page very often, how long had that picture been there without me knowing it? Photos with a target's name? As a social n...

Jess explores web 2.0: The good and the bad

http://www.weelittlejess.blogspot.com/2008/03/good-and-bad.html

Saturday, March 29, 2008. The good and the bad. I really like this quote. I have been thinking a lot about the usefulness of social networking tools in schools since the beginning of this course. Social networking sites are the only web 2.0 tools blocked on the school computers here. The news is full of teens bullying and being bullied. With these sites. There is controversy about them being used for cheating. I was beginning to think sites like Facebook. And photo/video sharing sites can't? Groups to te...

Jess explores web 2.0: January 2008

http://www.weelittlejess.blogspot.com/2008_01_01_archive.html

Thursday, January 31, 2008. Before I officially start exploring video sharing, I have to explain something: I don't like video. I can enjoy movies if they are really, really good, and there have been a few tv shows that have captured my attention (Corner Gas, Heroes) and I watch on DVD, for the most part I don't enjoy moving pictures. All right, I'm off to YouTube. Tuesday, January 29, 2008. Yes, I'm still playing around with Picasa, and thought I'd try the BlogThis! Sunday, January 27, 2008. I like to h...

http://stephippen.blogspot.com/2008_03_01_archive.html

Sunday, March 30, 2008. Social Networks are one of the Web 2.0 tools I actually knew a little about at the start of this course- Why, you wonder? More of a teen thing? Must be maintained at all times. The kids always know where everyone else is, and they are highly skilled in organizational planning. My teens can plan all kinds of activities through Facebook- ranging from social gatherings to carpools for soccer. I think they prefer to plan on Facebook- more efficient use of energy! My kids, part of the ...

steph's blog: April 2008

http://stephippen.blogspot.com/2008_04_01_archive.html

Sunday, April 13, 2008. Thank you Jenn, for the invitation to write a heartfelt reflection. That is about the only kind I know how to write. I've been gone from the academic world for such a long time that my formal writing muscle is pretty lax. There have been some real lows in my experience. Mostly related to my anxiety about doing it. First, the low points. I found it very frustrating to spend so much time looking for things- -again, when I asked for direction it was offered freely. I spent a lot ...

Tuesday, January 29, 2008. Actually using the technology. Just a short note and a chortle. My assignment was to actually USE. Photobucket or another photo sharing site, so early this morning my trusty mac and I gave it a go. Dead easy, which is of course the point. I can now understand through experience. Just how easy it is to begin. I know it will be fun to continue playing and learning. On photobucket. This learning carries with it the bonus insight that unless I MAKE. Sunday, January 27, 2008. Wee Little Delights

A blog about all things mini, 1/12 fantasy and witchy, tips and tutorials. Tassels. Who doesn´t love tassels, right? Sure, making tassels the normal way isn´t hard. But when it comes to mini stuff, sometimes it can be handy to have a wee shortcut or easier way of doing things. So, after I´ve spent a few hours embroidering a mini pillow, I feel like it should be pretty much over. I really don´t like finishing pillows. No, I´m not dead yet :).
