The art of modern fencing. West Devon Swords at May Melee, 2015. Posted on May 27, 2015. The May Melee is a weekend HEMA event held in the grounds of a rather impressive sixteenth-century free house. Run by Virtus Sword School. Over the weekend of 22-24th May 2015, the first May Melee brought together several HEMA clubs from across the South-West and beyond for a weekend of classes and sparring alongside general revelry. This walking group was set up following a meeting 28/5/03 in Bradford and Cookbury Village Hall. The Group started as Bradford and District Walking Group. At the AGM on 12/6/08 the name was changed to West Devon Walkers. Walks take place on the 1st and 3rd thursday of each month throughout the year. From May to September there will be an additional walk on the 4th thursday as well. The Group also organise a Spring Break, usually within the South West. See Special Events page for further details.
