Sunday, December 25, 2011. From: Christ-mas To: Easter : Luke 24v36-53. As they were saying this, Jesus himself stood in the midst of them, and said,'Peace be with you.' They were terrified and alarmed, and thought the were seeing a ghost. Why are you disturbed? He said. 'Why do these questionings come up in your hearts? Look at my hands and feet; it really is me, myself. Touch me and see! Ghosts don't have flesh and bones like you see that I have.'. With these words, he showed them his hands and feet.

Thursday, June 30, 2011. The Narrow Gate: Luke 13v22-30. Luke reminds us again that Jesus is headed to Jerusalem and his followers are expecting a major conflict where only a remnant will be left, or saved through it. Israel knows this story. This is not primarily about eternal salvation, though we can certainly glean some insights. It is always dangerous to take things out of context of what Jesus was actually saying to fit our theology. Sunday, December 4, 2011. Resurrection Now: Luke 24v1-12. The women went to the tomb in the very early morning of the first day of the week, carrying the spices they had prepared. They found the stone rolled away from the tomb, and when they went in they didn't find the body of the Lord Jesus. As they were at a loss what to make of it all, suddenly two men in shining clothes stood beside them. The women were terrified, and bowed their faces towards the ground. He isn't here - he's been raised! Or perhaps...

Sunday, December 18, 2011. Let’s Turn This Thing Around - Luke 24v28-35. They drew near to the village where they were heading. Jesus gave the impression that he was going further, but they urged him not to. Then they said to each other, ‘Do you remember how our hearts were burning inside us as he talked to us on the road, as he opened up the Bible for us? And they got up then and there and went back to Jerusalem. There they found the eleven, and the people with them, gathered together. 8216;The warfare ...

They lit a fire in the middle of the courtyard and sat around it, and Peter sat in among them. A servant girl saw him sitting by the fire. She stared hard at him. 'This fellow was with him! Peter denied it. 'I don't know him, woman,' he said. After a little while another man saw him and said,'You're one of them!

Saturday, May 5, 2012. Some thought’s on Judaism, Christianity and the Kingdom of God as the Holy Spirit leads…. Some thought’s on Judaism, Christianity and the Kingdom of God as the Holy Spirit leads…. I was gathered together with some friends recently and we were talking scripture when a question came up about the Kingdom of God (Heaven)…how would you explain it to someone? Now this conversation, to place things in context, stems from our study of ‘Last Days’ and ‘Eternal Life’ ...8216;On one hand, red...

Sunday, August 28, 2011. The Resurrection - Luke 20v27-40. Some of the Sadducees came to Jesus to put their question. (The Sadducees deny that there is any resurrection.). The seven all had her as their wife.’. 8216;That was well said, teacher,’ commented some of the scribes, since they no longer dared ask him anything else. So what about these Sadducees? No, the Kingdom of God is within your grasp, He holds it out to you as an offer, a free gift of His grace set before you, His Messiah…crucified f...

Friday, July 29, 2011. The Coming King: Luke 19v11-27. Jesus has wept over Jerusalem, he has warned the Pharisees, prophesied against the corrupt temple and he means for the judgement declared at the end of this parable to be taken seriously. Malachi talked about, 'The Lord, whom you seek' coming suddenly to the Temple, bringing fiery judgment. Zechariah talked of God coming with all his holy ones. "It's happening! Is Jesus' message "The Kingdom of God is near! Who will be able to stand before him? The S...
