We found our hostel with ease and were warmly greeted by the nice Filipino receptionist (I'm surprised at how large the Filipino community is here). HOSTEL = CHECK! Chilling at the hostel. IOUs are most definitely in order. Plane ...

who's the fob now?: July 24; the downside of travel: airports & typhoon weather

http://www.whosthefobnow.blogspot.com/2014/07/july-24-downside-of-travel-airports.html

Saturday, July 19, 2014. July 24; the downside of travel: airports and typhoon weather. My mom emailed me in the morning to notify me about the current weather situation in Hong Kong and Beijing. There had been some major flooding in Beijing, our stopover, that caused 30 deaths in rural Beijing. And apparently, a level 10 typhoon hit Hong Kong, our destination. The last time the typhoon was that bad was in the 90s. So ya, I was a little worried. My expectations were too high. Back to mainland faces. Ugh, ...

Perfect on a hot and humid day like today. Mango Slush - 19 RMB ( $3 CND). Our host brought us dessert - she's too nice! Huang River - never realized how dirty it was. Ferry Ride - 2 RMB for a 10 min ride.

who's the fob now?: January 2013

http://www.whosthefobnow.blogspot.com/2013_01_01_archive.html

Friday, January 11, 2013. June 25; Suzhou to Wuxi. Things I'm gonna miss: hotel breakfasts. Day 3 of the tour has us lounging around the Silk Mill. In a restaurant that bottled reptiles. We don't not eat any though. In the next city, Wuxin. We visit Ling Shan. It's my favourite place we visited thus far. The statue of the Buddha is the biggest one in the world and it measures over 40 meters taller than the Statue of Liberty in new York. Grand Buddha at Ling Shan. Belongs to Central China. Year of the ram.
