About | Wild Goose

https://wildgoosedesign.wordpress.com/about

Celtic and Pictish art, distractions permitting. Having believed most of my life that I ‘can’t draw’, I started doodling a Celtic design for a college project and never stopped. Now I’m moving on to paint and canvas, helped by a lot of very encouraging people. These people in turn have asked to see what I’m painting these days, so here they are. There will probably be a few other subjects thrown in as well, and the occasional rambling. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Enter your comment here.

Japan 1: Ferry | Wild Goose

https://wildgoosedesign.wordpress.com/2015/08/03/japan-sketch-1-ferry

Celtic and Pictish art, distractions permitting. August 3, 2015. By Andy in Germany. This is not another atempt to corect the ongoing ferry project: my Beautiful Wife is taking our children off to Japan to visit their grandparents and get their fix of seafood and decent tofu. For a number of reasons I won’t be joining them, so for the next few weeks I’ll put up sketches I made there during our last visit. This entry was posted in Ships. Japan 2: Post box →. Japan 4: Railway | Wild Goose

Celtic and Pictish art, distractions permitting. August 15, 2015. By Andy in Germany. Railway crossing somewhere in the back streets of Ise, Japan. The alarms on Japanese railway crossings are one of my favourite sounds of Japan, sort of half way between a siren and a slightly cracked bell. I guess I like them for the memory the sounds bring rather than the melodious tone…. This entry was posted in Japan. Yes, but is it art? Birlinn Bay →. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Celtic and Pictish art, distractions permitting. Author Archives: Andy in Germany. August 27, 2016. By Andy in Germany. For your steampunk freight transport needs, a two cylinder steam truck. With certain user modifiications. Thoroughly impractical of course, but that never stopped my before. The business around the real wheel should be rodding, similar to what you’d see on the side of a steam locomotive. I think I’ll need a bigger version to make that happen though. August 7, 2016. Celtic and Pictish art, distractions permitting. August 1, 2015. By Andy in Germany. Now to decide which one of these to go for. I like this one but I think at my current ability, version 1.2. Is a better idea…. By the way, anyone out there with a picture of a Leyland/LDV post bus or even a regular van from a 3/4 rear view, please let me know…. For non-British viewers: Postman Pat. The Inkwell: July 2012

http://inkwelliain.blogspot.com/2012_07_01_archive.html

Tuesday, 31 July 2012. In a lull from scribbling for money, I had a try at working up a sketch into a proper painting, using the brushes that I had made in Photoshop. The pencil sketch was scanned in, then I painted over using several layers. I think I will go back to building paintings up with lines, because that's my style, but this was worth a try. The Inkwell: June 2012

http://inkwelliain.blogspot.com/2012_06_01_archive.html

Thursday, 28 June 2012. After the last post I decided that I would bring the tone of things back to monochrome, for the moment at least! While looking for something in a bookcase, these old drawings fell out from the pages of a musty tome. They are some diagrams I drew for an article in a magazine, about building a model of a farm and a small wood-framed cottage- hence the cutaways showing construction details on the farm. Originally these were annotated, the old way using cow-gum and paste-up! Then the ...

Wednesday, 3 July 2013. It all depends on your point of view. Wendy Murphy, Croesor Evening. We had a look around the crop of new shows in our local galleries last week. It was the usual mixture of interesting stuff, mixed with enthusiastic work from local artists groups. It's great that so many folk paint and obviously love what they are doing.it seems to please the people who visit the galleries, too, from the comments in the visitor's books. The Inkwell: Inspiration

http://inkwelliain.blogspot.com/2012/10/inspiration.html

Saturday, 20 October 2012. A digital sketch of the Moelwyn Mountains from Diffwys floor six. I've been inspired to take up painting on canvas, after a gap of a good few years. I'm normally to be found scribbling with a pen, or trying to make sentences hang together for a living, so I had wondered if I might have lost the touch for colour and paint. Tuesday, 29 October 2013. More Welsh Artists: my final selection. The map of Welsh Artists won't be going ahead, for the moment at least, due to other work pressures and lack of time to go round selling it. But I thought I'd put a couple more up here for folk who might not have heard of the artists.
