Now back thanks to parental broadband. Monday, December 04, 2006. I don't particularly care if anyone has opposing views - that's what's going to happen.". Oh, Rudd. Bad start! Saturday, December 02, 2006. I also woke up one morning last week and, in my sleepy state, tried to convince myself that my need to take a leak was in fact a cultural cosntruction. Step back. Page O' Crap: But they said it will make money......

The rantings and ravings of a grumpy old man. Thursday, January 20, 2011. But they said it will make money. Ken Ham is a creationist from good ol' Queensland who didn't have much success trying to introduce creationism into the science curriculum here so he moved to the USA. This is his logic in a nutshell:. He is now trying to build a theme park based around the story of Noah's Ark. He already has a creation museum. In Kentucky. The motto is "Creation Museum - prepare to. Brit Breemer. It's 10,000 p...

Now back thanks to parental broadband. Thursday, February 01, 2007. Has Darren Hayes been writing his own press releases? The particularly worrying bits have been highlighted. Some of the songs on the record would not sound out of place in a musical about Jules Verne or H.G Wells' 'The Time Machine'. But they're just a metaphor says Hayes of his 'Victorian Science Fiction' dress code. Who would have thought that love so belated could save me? How did Dreamgirls get 8 Oscar nominations? Now back thanks to parental broadband. Thursday, February 01, 2007. How did Dreamgirls get 8 Oscar nominations? This was an AWFUL film, people. To paraphrase Elanor: "the whole thing was designed to NOT PISS OFF DIANA ROSS". It was clunky, trite, with kitchen-sink character development, and unable to at any point inspire any emotional reaction. I infinitely preferred the treatment. Sorry about the abs scene - this is obviously not related to my point]. The poppy, empty Beyonce version! Scott to be Certain.

Pop Frippery.: GaGa: Verdict
http://popfrippery.blogspot.com/2010/04/gaga-verdict.html
Saturday, April 10, 2010. OK, so I didn't enjoy GaGa. Possibly, but not necessarily erroneously. It wasn't just my extreme age dulling my enjoyment. Basically, it wasn't a great show. Or, rather, it wasn't a show great enough to match the truly great things GaGa is doing in every other sphere - her clips, visual imagery, appearances etc. Because the production was merely mediocre, everything seemed slightly duller. Than one would expect: her costumes weren't nearly as interesting or avant garde. Have bee...

Pop Frippery.: February 2010
http://popfrippery.blogspot.com/2010_02_01_archive.html
Monday, February 8, 2010. Has she had work done? Is a vacant starlet in the truest sense (see this. Nonetheless her complete plastic surgery makeover is a bold move, and raises some interesting questions about, umm, the boundaries of identity. While I'm tempted to say that in becoming a completely different person. Is making a profound political statement, she's most likely playing out some kind of body dysmorphia. Unfortunately her face is so bruised she's unable to promote her new album Superficial.

Pop Frippery.: December 2009
http://popfrippery.blogspot.com/2009_12_01_archive.html
A song to make me happy. Sunday, December 13, 2009. I somehow got a hold of a physical copy of Shakira's. Album, even though the release has now been pulled until 2010, which suggests record company disarray and panic. Very sad. But anyway, the album is strong, although only nine tracks (if you exclude the Spanish version of She Wolf. Which puts it in The Fame Monster. Mini-album territory. Men in this Town. With only slight modulation. (In an album of nine tracks, how can there be filler? I Am The Blob.

Pop Frippery.: Not Myself Tonight
http://popfrippery.blogspot.com/2010/05/im-reluctant-to-slag-this-off-because-i.html
Wednesday, May 19, 2010. I'm reluctant to slag this off, because a) I think Xtina. Has done some really good stuff (albeit mostly in the Stripped. Period) and b) it's too easy in the era of Lady GaGa. To assume that those who've come before her are now stealing her moves. That might be partly true, but the reality is more reciprocal, and I'm sure Xtina has also in a sense paved the way. For GaGa (just as Kylie has - there I said it). But enough moderation. Not Myself Tonight. Vids which, if you take them...
